For a long time, the penalty of imprisonment has been studied and criticized as ineffective in achieving goals resocialization rehabilitation offenders, studies have associated incarceration with increased prevalence disease. In response to COVID-19 pandemic, World Health Organization recommended decarceration prevention measure. The aim this review was analyze effectiveness non-exposure preventing mitigating events. We conducted systematic meta-analysis observational comparing adult general population (GP) incarcerated (IP). identified 1,334 publications without duplicates extracted data from 22 studies. found that incidence 61% lower GP (RR = 0.39 [0.34, 0.45], p < 0.0001).
