This study explores the prevalence of dark patterns in mobile games that exploit players through temporal, monetary, social, and psychological means. Recognizing ethical concerns potential harm surrounding these manipulative strategies, we analyze user-generated data 1496 to identify relationships between deployment within "dark" "healthy" games. Designers’ use of deceptive and manipulative design practices have become increasingly ubiquitous, impacting users’ ability to make choices that respect their agency autonomy. These been popularly defined through the term “dark patterns” which has gained attention from designers, privacy scholars, more recently, legal scholars regulators. The increased interest in concept dark patterns across a range practitioners users motivated us study evolution highlight future trajectory conversations around similar activist movements utilize social computing platforms. In this paper, we examine history Twitter discourse #darkpatterns its inception June 2010 until April 2021, using combination quantitative qualitative methods describe how changed over time.
