Impactful research on refugee mental health is urgently needed. Exploring “Language of Suffering”: Idioms of Distress Among Eritrean Refugees Living in Israel DOI

In this paper, we explore idioms of distress among Eritrean refugees currently living in Israel, a refugee population that has experienced profound forms violence and upheaval their country origin, yet largely overlooked clinical research. A significant portion have, over the past decade, sought asylum make up Israel’s largest population. To unique distress, data collection methods included 200 hours participant observation. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms are often consequences of war conflicts that generate trauma in people, resulting from the loss family, home and belonging. It is associated with forced migration lack structured facilities or health professionals hosting country, as a result varying degrees clinical assessment sociocultural intervention. To evaluate resources for refugees Ukraine, well research purposes, this study examined validity psychometric properties one Ukrainian adapted version PCL-5 (Check-List PTSD) convergent four factor model DSM-5 PTSD. ABSTRACT Both refugees and asylum seekers exhibit poorer mental health higher rates of disorders, particularly posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for which EMDR therapy has been shown to be effective. This review analyses the efficacy in reducing PTDS or using randomized controlled studies (RCTs). A systematic meta‐analysis published PROSPERO (CRD42024595506) databases PubMed, PsycINFO Web Science were conducted.
