In mammals, the placenta is a connection between mother and new developing organism. This tissue has protective function against some microorganisms, transports nutrients, exchanges gases excretory substances fetus. Placental mainly composed of chorionic villi functional units called trophoblasts (cytotrophoblasts, syncytiotrophoblast, extravillous trophoblasts). However, viruses have developed mechanisms that help them invade placenta, causing various conditions such as necrosis, poor perfusion, membrane rupture which, in turn, can impact development fetus put mother’s health at risk. this study, we collected most relevant information about viral infection during pregnancy which affect both fetus, leading to an increase probability vertical transmission. Knowing these could be for research maternal–fetal context may provide options therapeutic targets biomarkers fetal prognosis.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a multisystem disorder that presents with variety of phenotypes involving metabolic, endocrine, reproductive, and psychological symptoms signs. Women PCOS are at increased risk pregnancy complications including implantation failure, miscarriage, gestational diabetes, fetal growth restriction, preterm labor, pre-eclampsia (PE). This may be attributed to the presence specific susceptibility features associated before during pregnancy, such as chronic systemic inflammation, insulin resistance (IR), hyperandrogenism, all which have been an complications. Many reversible following lifestyle interventions diet exercise, pregnant women healthy found lower complications, PE. narrative synthesis summarizes evidence investigating PE role nutritional factors in PCOS. The findings suggest beneficial aspects management PCOS, recommended evidence-based international guidelines, extend improved outcomes. Identifying high-risk will allow targeted interventions, early-pregnancy screening, surveillance for should included assessment algorithms

Abnormal fetal growth, i.e., intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) or (FGR) and overgrowth, is associated with increased perinatal morbidity mortality strongly linked to the development of metabolic cardiovascular disease in childhood later life. Emerging evidence suggests that changes placental amino acid transport may contribute abnormal growth. This review focused on human placenta, however, relevant animal models will be discussed add mechanistic insights. At least 25 distinct transporters different characteristics substrate preferences have been identified placenta. Of these, System A, transporting neutral nonessential acids, L, mediating essential studied some detail. The placenta, being a temporary organ, plays crucial role in facilitating the exchange of nutrients and gases between mother fetus during pregnancy. Any abnormalities development this vital organ not only lead to various pregnancy-related disorders that can result fetal injury or death, but also have long-term effects on maternal health. In vitro models been employed study physiological features molecular regulatory mechanisms placental development, aiming gain detailed understanding pathogenesis diseases. Among these models, trophoblast stem cell culture organoids show great promise. review, we provide comprehensive overview current mature emerging organoid while discussing other systematic manner. We believe knowledge will be valuable guiding further exploration complex maternal-fetal interface.

Preeclampsia (PE) is a major cause of maternal and neonatal morbidity mortality worldwide, with the placenta playing central role in disease pathophysiology. This review synthesizes recent advancements understanding molecular mechanisms underlying PE, focusing on placental genes, proteins, genetic variants identified through multi-omic approaches. Pregnancy is a time of high metabolic coordination, as maternal metabolism adapts to support the growing fetus. Many these changes are coordinated by placenta, critical fetal endocrine organ and site maternal-fetal crosstalk. Dysregulation in placental during pregnancy has been linked adverse outcomes, including altered neurodevelopment. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) neurodevelopmental alterations both children their mothers. Prenatal environmental exposures have risk ASD through dysregulated maternal, placental, metabolism. In this review, we focus on recent studies investigating associations between prenatal maternal-placental-fetal unit impact phthalates micronutrients risk. By identifying mechanisms which other ubiquitous disrupting chemicals influence development, how nutritional interventions can those mechanisms, identify promising ways prevent suboptimal
