Elevated blood pressure is a well-established risk factor for age-related cognitive decline. Long linked to impairment on vascular bases, increasing evidence suggests potential association of hypertension with the neurodegenerative pathology underlying Alzheimer disease. Hypertension well known disrupt structural and functional integrity cerebral vasculature. However, mechanisms by which these alterations lead brain damage, enhance pathology, promote remain be established. Furthermore, critical questions concerning whether lowering antihypertensive medications prevents have not been answered. Recent developments in neurovascular biology, imaging, epidemiology, as new clinical trials, provided insights into issues. In particular, basic findings link between dysfunction pathobiology neurodegeneration shed light overlap pathology. this review, we will examine progress made relationship and, after evaluation evidence, attempt identify remaining knowledge gaps future research directions that may advance our understanding one leading health challenges time.

Sex steroid hormones such as progesterone play a pivotal role in reproductive functions and maintaining pregnancy; however, the impact of on interaction between mother embryo is unclear. Here, we demonstrate that relationship maternal membrane receptor epsilon (mPRε) adipose tissue regulates embryonic nutritional environment growth after birth mice. The activation mPRε by increased during pregnancy enhances insulin resistance via prostaglandin production, efficiently providing glucose to embryos. Correspondingly, offspring mPRε-deficient mothers exhibited metabolic dysfunction, whereas with high-fat diet-induced obesity improved sensitivity. These findings establish importance regulator embryo. Additionally, may represent modulator for treating pregnant glycemic control disorders gestational diabetes mellitus, well syndrome offspring.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a multisystem disorder that presents with variety of phenotypes involving metabolic, endocrine, reproductive, and psychological symptoms signs. Women PCOS are at increased risk pregnancy complications including implantation failure, miscarriage, gestational diabetes, fetal growth restriction, preterm labor, pre-eclampsia (PE). This may be attributed to the presence specific susceptibility features associated before during pregnancy, such as chronic systemic inflammation, insulin resistance (IR), hyperandrogenism, all which have been an complications. Many reversible following lifestyle interventions diet exercise, pregnant women healthy found lower complications, PE. narrative synthesis summarizes evidence investigating PE role nutritional factors in PCOS. The findings suggest beneficial aspects management PCOS, recommended evidence-based international guidelines, extend improved outcomes. Identifying high-risk will allow targeted interventions, early-pregnancy screening, surveillance for should included assessment algorithms

Introduction Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among women worldwide, and hypertension one most prevalent modifiable risk factors. Parity gravidity, independent pregnancy complications, have each been associated with hypertension, although results are conflicting. Therefore, we propose to estimate association between parity gravidity blood pressure in a systematic review literature. Methods analysis A will be conducted pressure. Electronic databases (Excerpta Medica Database, Ovid MEDLINE, Cochrane Central Register Controlled Trials, Cumulative Index Nursing Allied Health Literature Plus Web Science) searched from inception January 2025. Two investigators independently screen identified abstracts select observational cohort studies, case-control studies randomised controlled trials examining or Extracted data include study population characteristics, comorbidities, parity, incidence changes pressure, quality bias. If there sufficient data, they summarised using random effects meta-analysis pooled ratio odds hypertension. Stratified subgroup analyses used explore potential sources heterogeneity. Premenopausal women (PreM) have a cardioprotective advantage over postmenopausal (PostM) due to estrogen. The interaction of estrogen with the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) pathway remains unexplored. This study aimed identify changes in aldosterone, renin and sexual steroid levels MR surrogate biomarkers PostM that may explain blood pressure renal damage. A cross-sectional was carried out 47 normotensive hypertensive Chilean distributed between PreM PostM. Clinical, anthropometric biochemical parameters, including plasma activity (PRA) markers activity, were assessed. had greater systolic (SBP) (p < 0.001) than PreM. negative correlation observed estradiol fractional excretion potassium (FEK) (ρ = -0.29; p 0.023), adjusted for age SBP. Compared PreM, (PostM-HT) showed reduced PRA 0.045) FEK 0.04). Normotensive (Post-NT) exhibited SBP 0.03), neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) 0.04) 0.03) Our results suggest enhanced sensitivity not only PostM-HT, as evidenced by lower elevated FEK, but also PostM-NT, who NGAL levels, activation. These support novel role activation cardiovascular risk women.
