Introduction Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among women worldwide, and hypertension one most prevalent modifiable risk factors. Parity gravidity, independent pregnancy complications, have each been associated with hypertension, although results are conflicting. Therefore, we propose to estimate association between parity gravidity blood pressure in a systematic review literature. Methods analysis A will be conducted pressure. Electronic databases (Excerpta Medica Database, Ovid MEDLINE, Cochrane Central Register Controlled Trials, Cumulative Index Nursing Allied Health Literature Plus Web Science) searched from inception January 2025. Two investigators independently screen identified abstracts select observational cohort studies, case-control studies randomised controlled trials examining or Extracted data include study population characteristics, comorbidities, parity, incidence changes pressure, quality bias. Premenopausal women (PreM) have a cardioprotective advantage over postmenopausal (PostM) due to estrogen. The interaction of estrogen with the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) pathway remains unexplored. This study aimed identify changes in aldosterone, renin and sexual steroid levels MR surrogate biomarkers PostM that may explain blood pressure renal damage. A cross-sectional was carried out 47 normotensive hypertensive Chilean distributed between PreM PostM. Clinical, anthropometric biochemical parameters, including plasma activity (PRA) markers activity, were assessed. had greater systolic (SBP) (p < 0.001) than PreM. negative correlation observed estradiol fractional excretion potassium (FEK) (ρ = -0.29; p 0.023), adjusted for age SBP. Significant sex disparities exist in the burden of atrial fibrillation and flutter. However, comprehensive systematic analysis its global trend by is scarce. The Global Burden Disease Study 2021 was used as data source for analysis. Sex-specific prevalence, incidence, disability-adjusted life years (DALY), mortality rates per 100,000 population from flutter were estimated using Bayesian meta-regression method. Temporal trends average annual percent change (AAPC) age-standardized age-specific burdens across age bands evaluated joinpoint model stratified socio-demographic index (SDI). Sex differences tested pairwise comparison. From 1990 to 2021, DALY rate [from 109.93 (95% uncertainty interval, 88.5 134.72) 112.05 (93.3 135.28), P < 0.001], 4.20 (3.65 4.59) 4.44 (3.94 4.81), 0.001] significantly increased males, while incidence decreased 58.0 (44.98 75.8) 57.11 (46.19 72.14) males (P 0.001). Countries with low low-middle SDI exhibited significant increases prevalence both females (all 0.001), a faster increase females. Across all bands, observed among under 50 showed higher on scale compared males. High systolic blood pressure predominant risk factor contributing flutter-related DALY. Notably, impact high body-mass increasing fast over last three decades, especially Although has substantially increased, different sexes, countries status.

Abstract Background Regulation of the human umbilical circulation under physiological and pathological conditions remains poorly understood. We previously demonstrated that intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is associated with sex-specific alterations in circulation. Our data strongly suggest a differential contribution subcellular compartmentation depending on fetal sex, vessel type presence IUGR. therefore developed protocol to isolate culture vascular cells further investigate relative each cell regulation. Methods results Human cords cord blood were collected just after delivery. Mononuclear recovered from using Ficoll gradient cultured obtain endothelial colony-forming (ECFCs). Endothelial (ECs) isolated vein (HUV) arteries (HUAs) by collagenase/dispase digestion, smooth muscle (SMCs) migration explants. All types characterized visualization, analysis biomarkers immunocytofluorescence Western blot. ECFCs also submitted polychromatic flow cytometry analysis. Conclusions This enables simultaneous isolation ECFCs, HUVECs, HUAECs, HUVSMCs HUASMCs same cord. It simpler, faster more cost-effective than other published methods, good success rates. will be helpful regulatory mechanisms implicated study influence sex.

Systolic blood pressure time in target range (SBP TTR) is a novel metric for control. Previous studies have demonstrated an inverse association between SBP TTR and risks of cardiovascular events, but sex differences never been reported. This study aims to investigate the sex-specific relationship using data from Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT). post hoc analysis included 8822 SPRINT participants with at least three follow-up systolic (SBP) measurements within first months. was calculated Rosendaal method linear interpolation. The primary endpoint major adverse cerebrovascular events (MACCE). Cox proportional hazards models restricted cubic splines (RCS) were used assess events. Women accounted 35.3% mean age 68.6 ± 9.5 years, having higher body mass index (p = 0.007) lower compared men < 0.001). In overall population women, each standard deviation (SD) increase associated reduced risk MACCE (adjusted hazard ratio (HR) 0.89; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.82-0.97; p 0.007, adjusted HR 0.85; CI 0.74-0.99; 0.039, respectively) acute decompensated heart failure 0.86; 0.73-0.99; 0.047, 0.68; 0.51-0.92; 0.011, respectively), while this not observed men. RCS indicated similar trend only when exceeded 39%. Additional adjustments variability yielded outcomes. demonstrates that failure, men, higher, underscoring necessity considering personalized management strategies. Studies have demonstrated that there are sex differences in the timing of onset and severity prenatally programmed hypertension, with consistently milder phenotypes observed females relative to male offspring. However, root cause(s) for these sex-specific effects is unknown. Activation renin-angiotensin system (RAS), elevated oxidative stress inflammation, sympathetic hyperactivity cardiovascular organs regulatory systems, all involved pathogenesis hypertension. Sex hormones interact prohypertensive systems modulate blood pressure, this interaction may lead a development A more complete understanding functional capabilities their interactions factors offspring, from early life aging, would likely new insights into basis Recently, we discovered also occur sensitization offspring hypertension as by maternal gestational requires brain RAS proinflammatory factors. In review, will discuss possible mechanisms underlying mothers exposed various prenatal insults. These operate at levels periphery central nervous (e.g., vessel, heart, kidney, brain). Understanding responsible sensitized state can help develop therapeutic strategies interrupting vicious cycle transgenerational treating men women differentially maximize efficacy.

Abstract For the first time, we investigated bidirectional predictors between baseline and recovery sleep cardiovascular (CV) measures during total deprivation (TSD) psychological stress in a five‐day experiment with 32 healthy adults (27‐53y; 14 females). CV were collected morning after two nights (B1, B2) TSD (TSD AM) evening following PM). Actigraphy assessed B2 before night (R1) TSD. Higher wake onset (WASO) predicted lower PM stroke volume higher systemic vascular resistance index (SVRI), greater percent predicting inverse relationships, explaining 12.8%–15.9% of variance. Also, WASO AM SVRI. Furthermore, longer left ventricular ejection time later R1 offset, duration, WASO; by contrast, heart rate earlier offset. indices explained 14.8%–24.9% Notably, females showed significant predictive relationships. Our novel results demonstrate that predicts metrics stress, these predict sleep, underscoring crucial mechanisms, biomarkers health.
