Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is the most widespread form of diabetes, characterized by chronic hyperglycaemia, insulin resistance, and inefficient secretion action. Primary care in T2DM pharmacological, using drugs several groups that include sensitisers (e.g., biguanides, thiazolidinediones), secretagogues sulphonylureas, meglinides), alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, newest incretin-based therapies sodium-glucose co-transporter inhibitors. However, their long-term application can cause many harmful side effects, emphasising importance natural therapeutic products. Natural health substances including non-flavonoid polyphenols resveratrol, curcumin, tannins, lignans), flavonoids anthocyanins, epigallocatechin gallate, quercetin, naringin, rutin, kaempferol), plant fruits, vegetables other products garlic, green tea, blackcurrant, rowanberry, bilberry, strawberry, cornelian cherry, olive oil, sesame carrot) may be a safer alternative to primary pharmacological therapy. They are recommended as food supplements prevent and/or ameliorate T2DM-related complications. In advanced stage T2DM, combination therapy synthetic agents compounds with synergistic interactions makes treatment more efficient. this review, both pharmaceutical selected products, well therapies, characterized. Mechanisms action possible negative effects also provided.

Curcumin has shown to exert a positive impact on human glucose metabolism, even if its bioavailability is usually very low. The present study aimed explore the effect of phosphatidylserine- and piperine-containing curcumin phytosomes large number metabolic parameters related insulin resistance, in context randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial involving 80 overweight subjects with suboptimal fasting plasma glucose. Subjects were be treated indistinguishable tablets (2 per day, taken after dinner) containing 800 mg phytosomal (Curserin®: 200 curcumin, 120 phosphatidylserine, 480 phosphatidylcholine 8 piperine from Piper nigrum L. dry extract) for weeks. After 56-day treatment, curcumin-treated group experienced significant improvement (FPI), HOMA index, waist circumference, blood pressure, triglycerides (TG), HDL-C, liver transaminases, gamma-GT, index steatosis serum cortisol compared baseline. FPI, TG, fatty level also significantly improved placebo-treated group. Compared baseline, at end placebo an only FPG TG. In conclusion, shows that supplementation preparation phosphatidylserine could improve glycemic factors, hepatic function levels impaired

Diabetes Mellitus, characterized by persistent hyperglycaemia, is a heterogeneous group of disorders multiple aetiologies. It affects the human body at organ levels thus making it difficult to follow particular line treatment protocol and requires multimodal approach. The increasing medical burden on patients with diabetes-related complications results in an enormous economic burden, which could severely impair global growth near future. This shows that today’s healthcare system has conventionally been poorly equipped towards confronting mounting impact diabetes scale demands urgent need for newer better options. overall challenge this field identify individualized factors can lead improved glycaemic control. Since lifestyle changes are main therapies for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), changing dietary components (nutritional or bioactive) may play a parallel important role. Few studies have assessed the effects of curcumin on NAFLD (mainly antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects). We aimed to determine nano-curcumin (NC) overweight/obese patients by assessing glucose, lipids, inflammation, insulin resistance, function indices, especially through nesfatin. This double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted in Oil Company Central Hospital, Tehran. 84 with diagnosed using ultrasonography were recruited according eligibility criteria (age 25-50 yrs., body mass index [BMI] 25-35 kg/m2). The randomly divided into two equal NC (n = 42) placebo groups. Interventions 40 mg capsules/day after meals 3 months. Lifestyle advised. A general questionnaire, 24-h food recall (at beginning, middle end), short-form international physical activity questionnaire beginning end) completed. Also, blood pressure, degree, anthropometrics, fasting sugar (FBS) (FBI), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), quantitative sensitivity check (QUICKI), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein (LDL-c), high-density (HDL-c), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), high sensitive c-reactive protein (hs-CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), transaminases, nesfatin determined at end. compared significantly increased HDL, QUICKI, decreased waist circumference (WC), FBS, FBI, HbA1c, TG, TC, LDL, HOMA-IR, TNF-α, hs-CRP, IL-6 (P < 0.05). mean weight, BMI, composition (BC), pressure not significant > After adjustment confounders, similar unadjusted model. supplementation improved glucose WC, nesfatin, degree. Accordingly, proposed mechanism ameliorating approved serum likely consequent improvements profile. Further trials nano-curcumin's suggested. Iranian Registry Clinical Trials, IRCT2016071915536N3. Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common and important metabolic diseases in human. Curcumin, which a natural polyphenol found turmeric, can be used treatment diabetes complications for its antidiabetic, anti‐inflammatory, antioxidant properties. In this double‐blind randomized clinical trial, 44 patients with Type 2 randomly assigned to curcumin or placebo group. Patients consumed either 1,500‐mg daily 10 weeks. Anthropometric measurements were measured at baseline end study. Serum concentrations triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol, high‐density lipoprotein low‐density high‐sensitivity C‐reactive protein, adiponectin determined after 12‐hr fasting beginning The mean serum level TG decreased group compared (109 ± 36 vs. 124 36; p < 0.05). At study, concentration protein control (2.9 2.9 3.4 4.2; increased (64 3 63 4; 0.05) results current study indicate that consumption may reduce through decreasing as well indicators inflammation.

Background: Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) has a wide range of pathophysiological effects. Curcumin, an active constituent Curcuma longa (turmeric), several properties, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, anti-thrombotic, and anti-proliferative effects, which make it promising candidate for the symptomatic treatment COVID-19. Objective: We aimed to determine effects curcumin administered with piperine (to optimize absorption) on symptoms in patients COVID-19 double-blind, randomized, controlled trial at 30-bed dedicated COVID Health Center (DCHC) Maharashtra, India. Methods: In addition conventional treatment, control group received dose probiotics twice day, study (525 mg) (2.5 tablet form day. The curcumin/piperine primary secondary outcomes were assessed duration hospitalization. Results: Patients mild, moderate, severe who showed early recovery (fever, cough, sore throat, breathlessness), less deterioration, fewer red flag signs, better ability maintain oxygen saturation above 94% room air, clinical compared group. Furthermore, appeared reduce hospitalization moderate symptoms, deaths observed Conclusions: Administration oral as adjuvant therapy could substantially morbidity mortality, ease logistical supply-related burdens healthcare system.
