Supplementation with pine bark extract (PBE) may improve risk factors associated cardiometabolic syndrome (CMS). The effects of PBE supplementation on were evaluated in this systematic review and meta-analysis randomized controlled trials (RCTs). A comprehensive search various databases was performed to identify relevant RCTs published up September 2024. random-effects model employed for the meta-analysis, which included 27 1,685 participants. findings indicated that significantly reduced systolic blood pressure (SBP) (weighted mean difference (WMD): -2.26 mmHg, 95% confidence interval (CI): -3.73, -0.79; P = 0.003), diastolic (DBP) (WMD: -2.62 CI: -3.71, -1.53; < 0.001), fasting sugar (FBS) -6.25 mg/dL, -9.97, -2.53; hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) -0.32%, -0.54, -0.11; body weight -1.37 kg, -1.86, -0.88; low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol -5.07 -9.21, -0.94; 0.016) PBE-treated group compared their untreated counterparts. However, no significant impact observed waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), or serum levels insulin, high-density (HDL) cholesterol, triglycerides (TG), total (TC). ameliorate specific factors, as by reductions weight, DBP, SBP, FBS, LDL, HbA1c levels. This approach can be regarded an adjunct therapeutic strategy CMS management. Further high-quality larger sample sizes longer durations are required validate these findings.

Age-related oxidative stress is a critical factor in vascular dysfunction, contributing to hypertension and atherosclerosis. Smooth muscle cells endothelial are particularly susceptible damage, which exacerbates aging through cellular senescence, chronic inflammation, arterial stiffness. Gasotransmitters—hydrogen sulfide (H2S), nitric oxide (NO), carbon monoxide (CO)—are emerging as promising therapeutic agents for counteracting these processes. This review synthesizes findings from recent studies focusing on the mechanisms by H2S, NO, CO influence smooth cell function. Therapeutic strategies involving exogenous gasotransmitter delivery systems combination therapies were analyzed. H2S enhances mitochondrial bioenergetics, scavenges ROS, activates antioxidant pathways. NO improves function, promotes vasodilation, inhibits platelet aggregation. exhibits cytoprotective anti-inflammatory effects modulating heme oxygenase activity ROS production. In preclinical studies, gasotransmitter-releasing molecules (e.g., NaHS, SNAP, CORMs) targeted show significant promise. Synergistic with lifestyle modifications further enhance their potential. conclusion, gasotransmitters hold promise combat age-related cells. Their multifaceted innovative approaches make them potential candidates treating dysfunction promoting healthy aging. Further research needed translate into clinical applications.

Objectives: To analyze the effects of combination Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) supplementation and a health-related lifestyle intervention on disease activity cardiovascular risk factors in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). Methods: A total 38 women with SLE were randomly assigned to EVOO (n = 9) combined multicomponent health promotion physical exercise program (EVOO + HRLI) 15) or control (CG) 14) groups for 24 weeks. Baseline post-intervention assessments performed, collecting data activity, accrual damage, blood biochemical parameters, arterial stiffness Framingham score, anthropometric body composition measurements, factors.
