The
cornea
is
a
transparent,
dome-shaped
structure
on
the
front
part
of
eye
that
serves
as
major
optic
element
and
protector
from
external
environment.
Recent
evidence
shows
aberrant
alterations
corneal
mechano-environment
in
development
progression
various
diseases.
It
is,
thus,
critical
to
understand
how
cells
sense
respond
mechanical
signals
physiological
pathological
conditions.
In
this
review,
we
summarize
discuss
impact
these
cues
cellular
functions
bench
side
(in
laboratory
research
setting).
From
clinical
perspective,
comprehensively
review
changes
tissue
several
cornea-related
diseases,
including
keratoconus,
myopia,
keratectasia,
following
refractive
surgery.
