ABSTRACT Background People with HIV have a higher risk of developing non‐AIDS‐defining cancers in older age, leading to significant population living two conditions, and cancer. There is an increasing interest cannabis use for symptom management people chronic conditions; 2023, the American Nurses Association officially recognised nursing as specialty practice focusing on care individuals seeking education/guidance therapeutic cannabis, supporting urgency its research. However, scientific literature lacks synthesised review focused populations. Abstract Background National studies reporting the prevalence of cannabis use have focused on individuals with a history cancer without distinction by their treatment status, which can impact symptom burden. While pain is primary motivation to in cancer, magnitude its association remains understudied. Methods We examined and management among 5523 respondents Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System history. Survey-weighted proportions respondents’ are reported, stratified status. Regression models estimated odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) cancer-related use. Results Cannabis was slightly more prevalent those undergoing active relative who were not (9.3% vs. 6.2%; P =0.05). Those under likely medicinally (71.6% 50.0%; =0.03). Relative pain, persons medical control (OR 2.1, CI, 1.4–3.2) or uncontrolled twice as 2.0, 1.1–3.5). Conclusions Use patients may be related positively associated pain. Future research should investigate associations use, burden, regimens across spectrum facilitate interventions.

Abstract Purpose There is increasing interest in the use of cannabis products to alleviate symptom burden among cancer patients. Although data remain limited, some evidence suggests that state legalization associated with reduced opioid use. Indices area-level social determinants health may provide insights into patterns symptom-managing behaviors context equity. Methods Residential ZIP codes from 854 Ohio residents diagnosed invasive at an academic center were used assign rural–urban commuting area (RUCA) and deprivation index (SDI) values. RUCA was categorized as metropolitan non-metropolitan, SDI dichotomized median. Participants completed a one-time cannabis-focused questionnaire which included items on medications symptoms. Results The prevalence self-reported (19% vs. 13%) (30% 21%) higher patients living areas disadvantage lower. No differences observed for benzodiazepines or any product by residential urbanicity. Conclusion Larger, multi-institutional studies detailed measurement increased capacity examine additional are needed confirm explain these descriptive findings.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical obtained from Cannabis sativa; it has therapeutic effects on anxiety and cognition anti-inflammatory properties. Although pharmacological applications of CBD in many types tumors have recently been reported, the mechanism action not yet fully understood. In this study, we perform an mRNA-seq analysis to identify target genes after determining cytotoxic concentrations using MTT assay. treatment regulated expression related DNA repair cell division, with metallothionein (MT) family being identified as having highly increased levels induced by CBD. It was also found that MT were decreased colorectal cancer tissues compared those normal tissues, indicating downregulation might be associated tumor progression. A qPCR experiment revealed Moreover, or crude extract but other cannabinoids, suggesting specifically synergistic effect between gene transfection zinc ion found. conclusion, novel could synergistically increase anticancer activity regulating ions human cells.

Modern chemotherapies offer a broad approach to cancer treatment but eliminate both and non-cancer cells indiscriminately and, thus, are associated with host of side effects. Advances in precision oncology have brought about new targeted therapeutics, albeit mostly limited subset patients an actionable mutation. Individuals who have metastatic cancer experience substantial physical and psychological distress (e.g., pain, depression, anxiety) from their disease its treatment compared to patients with less advanced disease. As the burden of symptoms varies over time, ecological momentary assessment (EMA) may be used better understand patients' symptom trajectories, complimenting traditional longitudinal data collection methods. However, few EMA in The current study adds existing literature by exploring interrelated, common cancer-related anxiety, depression use cannabis-based products, opioid medications, other (nonopioid) pain medications for anxiety or depression.
