There is emerging evidence to suggest that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression may have a secondary effect on self-esteem, but less known about non-CBT based interventions. To examine this, we had two main aims; (1) meta-analyze psychotherapy effects (i) and (ii) (2) investigate the relationship between reductions in symptoms improvements self-esteem.A systematic review meta-analysis.Following PRISMA guidelines, conducted meta-analysis of randomized control trials adult depression, which included self-esteem outcome at post-treatment. Nineteen studies with total 3423 participants met inclusion criteria. For each comparison condition, calculated Hedges' g both pooled them separate meta-analyses. Furthermore, meta-regression was used explore association its self-esteem.The were large significant (Hedges' = -0.95; [95 % CI: -1.27, -0.63]). We found smaller, albeit still moderate, (Hedges'g 0.63; CI:0.32, 0.93]), sustained 6-12 months 0.70; -0.03, 1.43]). also strong inverse (β -0.60, p < 0.001).Heterogeneity very high (I2 97 %), out 19 trials, only 6 rated as having low risk bias. The results improve moderate degree.

Problem-solving (PS) has been identified as a therapeutic technique found in multiple evidence-based treatments for depression. To further understand whom and how this intervention works, we undertook systematic review of the evidence PS’s effectiveness preventing treating depression among adolescents young adults. We searched electronic databases ( PsycINFO , Medline Cochrane Library ) studies published between 2000 2022. Studies meeting following criteria were included: (a) was described by authors PS or including PS; (b) used to treat prevent depression; (c) mean median age 13–25 years; (d) at least one outcome reported. Risk bias included assessed using Bias 2.0 tool. A narrative synthesis undertaken given high level heterogeneity study variables. Twenty-five out 874 met inclusion criteria. The interventions studied heterogeneous population, intervention, modality, comparison condition, design, outcome. Twelve focused purely on 13 part more comprehensive intervention. Eleven positive effects reducing depressive symptoms two suicidality. There little that impacted skills acted mediator moderator is mixed about prevention treatment AYA. Our findings indicate pure clinical have strongest evidence, while sub-clinical show results.
