Cognitive-reminiscence therapy is a novel intervention for depression in young adults, and currently no specific clinical guidance exists its use this age group. The aim of article to disseminate our experiences from recent trial which we engaged cognitive-reminiscence (CRT) with adults the purpose treating depressive symptoms. Discussion presented terms observations that were made during treatment, challenges arose, recommendations implementing adults. Firstly, conceptual overview rationale CRT provided along an outline treatment protocol was used. Then,a framework undertaking therapeutic reminiscence work at different levels analysis presented, comment on for, process of, elicitingspecific memories. Common life events issues emerged as foci are reviewed. Following this, orienting mechanisms change discussed. Finally, several insights provision presented: contextualising emerging adulthood time transition, creating continuity acrossindividuals’ lives, reflection reminiscence, homework adherence.

Reminiscence therapy is a novel psychosocial approach to treating depressive symptoms in young adults. We present the first qualitative inquiry into adults’ experience of reminiscence-based therapy, aimed at exploring attitudes towards this and their view processes underpinning positive change. Help-seeking adults (mean age 20.8, SD = 1.6) with least moderate were interviewed following course cognitive-reminiscence therapy. The data analysed using thematic analysis. intervention was reported be which led outcomes. Change attributed common factors, specific factors cognitive reframing, increasing awareness broader life story, learning from past feel more confident able cope, strengthened self-worth self-acceptance. These findings provide unique insight treatment for symptoms, indicates it generally acceptable, useful, age-appropriate them.

Reminiscence-based interventions focus on the recall of autobiographical memories and reflective reasoning about these remembered experiences. This study assessed effect a three-session, positive-memory version cognitive-reminiscence therapy (CRT) psychological resources mental well-being young adults. The participants (N=62, Mage=24.6 [SD=3.1], 71% females) were randomised to CRT or wait-list. Psychological (self-esteem, self-efficacy, meaning in life, optimism), (depression, anxiety, stress symptoms) theorised change processes (automatic negative thoughts, awareness narrative identity cognitive reappraisal) assessed. results showed group was significantly higher at post-CRT (d=0.75-0.80) follow-up (d=0.52-0.87), post-intervention (d=0.71–1.30) (d=0.64–0.98). hypotheses regarding supported.
