Abstract E-cigarettes and heated tobacco products have been marketed as safer alternatives to traditional cigarettes, leading consumers believe that they will reduce health risks. However, the scientific evidence collected so far calls this hypothesis into question. Their use a means of smoking cessation has not only led unequivocal results on their effectiveness, but some studies even suggest could increase risk initiation or relapse nicotine addiction. Furthermore, research indicates both e-cigs contain toxic substances can consequently cause risks, such lung, cardiovascular, oncological diseases. The combination, so-called dual consumption, these with seems further amplify risks cancer other smoking-related It is important underline long-term effects new forms consumption are still being studied. information available suggests harmless at all. lack regulation variety market also make it difficult assess specific associated each device.

Pregnancy is a vulnerable time with significant cardiovascular changes that can lead to adverse outcomes, which extend into the postpartum window. Exposure emissions from electronic cigarettes (Ecig), commonly known as "vaping," has an impact on function during pregnancy and post-natal life of offspring, but effects maternal health are poorly understood. We used Sprague Dawley rat model, where pregnant dams exposed Ecigs between gestational day (GD)2-GD21 examine consequences. Litter dam were monitored weaning period, vascular endocrine assessed after weaning. Ecig led fetal losses (i.e., reabsorption in utero) reduced survival pups compared controls (air-exposed dams). find vaping pregnancy, or without nicotine (or flavoring) results hormonal dysfunction prolactin, increased expression sirtuin 1 deacetylase brain). Both 5 30W aerosol exposures resulted impairment middle cerebral artery reactivity acetylcholine-mediated dilation (decreasing ~ 22 50%, respectively). also observed increase number extracellular vesicles (EVs) plasma 30-W group persists up 3-week these EVs impaired endothelial cell when applied vitro ex vivo assays. Our data suggest (1) vaping, even flavorings, alters circulating factors influence health, (2) may contribute etiology dysfunction, (3) window for recovery likely be longer than exposure

Currently, the number of e-cigarette and heated tobacco product (HTP) users are steadily increasing, while classic cigarette decreasing. The effects smoking cigarettes on human health have been thoroughly described in literature, but negative e-cigarettes HTPs body not clearly defined. Among different forms tobacco, those at a particularly high risk developing particular disease entities should be identified, allowing for faster implementation potential treatments, including psychotherapeutic ones. Biomarkers used this purpose. This paper summarizes these compounds from exposure groups cigarettes, e-cigarettes, HTPs, presents changes their concentrations fluids users. review discusses impact use relation to levels following biomarkers: TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-17, IFN-γ, IL-10, IL-4, Il-13, TGF-β, VEGF EGF, HGF, BDNF, MMP-9, CRP, microplastics, selected parameters oxidative stress. also includes suggested treatment, Tobacco Product Use Reduction Programs, minimize above-mentioned products.

Background There is substantial interest in the cardiovascular effects of e-cigarette use, highlighting need to update our knowledge on subject. We conducted this review analyse whether use increases health risks and how these vary among different populations. Methods searched six databases included peer-reviewed human, animal, cell/in vitro original studies but excluded qualitative studies, which were published between July 2021 December 2023. Three types exposure examined: acute, short-to-medium term long term. Different risk bias tools used for assessing quality human we meta-analysis when possible. Results 63 main analysis, 12 32 sociodemographic factor-based subgroup analysis. Over half had low bias. Acute was associated with increased heart rate (HR) (mean difference (MD) 11.329, p<0.01) blood pressure (BP) (MD 12.856, p<0.01 systolic; MD 7.676, diastolic) compared non-use. While HR lower after acute e-cigarettes cigarettes −5.415, p<0.01), no significant systolic or diastolic BP observed. Non-smoker current vapers differences resting non-users −2.608, −3.226, non-vaper smokers. Despite some association endothelial dysfunction, short-to-medium-term transition from may improve flow BP, particularly females younger individuals. lack evidence supporting any diseases cardiac dysfunction remodelling. Conclusions This highlighted several important impacts non-use cigarette smoking. However, still limited requires future research. PROSPERO registration number CRD42023385632.
