Previous studies have shown that extremely high levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol are paradoxically associated with adverse outcomes in certain clinical settings. We aimed to test the hypothesis HDL increased all-cause and cause-specific mortality general population. included 51,235 individuals from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999 2018 a median follow-up 9.3 years. Baseline were measured, data ascertained Death Index (NDI) records through December 31, 2019. Weighted Cox proportional hazards regression, restricted cubic spline curves, cumulative incidence analyses performed. A U-shaped association was observed between all-cause, cardiovascular non-cardiovascular Compared 50 59 mg/dL, adjusted hazard ratios (95% CIs) for those (≥ 80 mg/dL) 1.24 (1.08–1.43), 1.18 (1.03–1.36) 1.27 (1.09–1.49) mortality, respectively. Similar patterns replicated both men women. Further subcategories showed also heart disease, respiratory endocrine cancer. Extremely an risk cardiovascular, Future should investigate causal factors leading elevated mortality.

While identification of key risk factors for mortality has contributed to advances in healthcare, the effect these predicting over different time horizons remains unclear. We sought determine how predicted shorter-term and longer-term across age spectrum adults. used data from 11 247 adults Australian Diabetes, Obesity Lifestyle (AusDiab) study. Cox multivariable regression models were estimate hazard ratios (HRs) (0-10 years) (10-20 all-cause cardiovascular disease (CVD)-related associated with factors. Models interaction between baseline each factor also fitted. During a 20-year follow-up, 2185 deaths occurred. Smoking, diabetes, male sex albuminuria all independently shorter- CVD mortality. Most associations stronger shorter term compared longer term. A notable exception was association smoking mortality, which (HR 3.55, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.57-4.90) 2.06, CI 1.33-3.20). The magnitude most attenuated age. Classical total remain important up 20 years after their measurement. In unselected adult cohorts, follow-up (e.g. beyond 10 may not provide additional information on that obtained follow-up.

Previous results on the association between HDL (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol) levels and intracranial aneurysm (IA) rupture were controversial. We aimed to investigate risk of IA rupture. Medical records patients with solitary diagnosed at West China Hospital Sichuan University reviewed analyzed December 2008 March 2023. Univariable multivariable logistic regression analyses performed determine effects risk. A three-piece-wise model smoothing was used analyze different thresholds after adjusting for confounding factors. analysis showed independent After being adjusted confounders, U-shaped relationships found in males, females, all patients. Compared range 0.9 ~ 1.3 mmol/L, had 79% [OR (95%CI):1.79(1.16 2.78), p = 0.009] increase when lower than 60% (95%CI):1.6(1.19 2.17), 0.002] higher mmol/L before or confounders. gender differences rupture; lowest 1.1 1.4 females 0.8 males. There a relationship People are least likely experience Chinese population.
