The
endovascular
treatment
of
the
femoropopliteal
segment
is
most
frequent
revascularization
option
in
patients
with
peripheral
arterial
occlusive
disease
(PAOD);
however,
plain
old
balloon
angioplasty
has
limitations,
especially
complex
and
calcified
lesions,
can
lead
to
dissections
recoil.
In
order
improve
technical
success
efficacy
complex,
sometimes
severely
or
thrombotic
lesions
also
mobile
segments,
a
lesion
preparation
strategy
before
actual
frequently
applied.
Lesion
methods
include
atherectomy,
thrombectomy
intravascular
lithotripsy.
Through
plaques
and/or
organized
thrombi
be
minimally
invasively
removed
calcium
deposits
even
fragmented
low
threshold
barotrauma,
without
damaging
vessel
wall.
Subsequently,
definitive
carried
out
using
drug-coated
balloons
(DCB),
bare
metal
stents
(BMS),
drug-eluting
(DES)
combination
these.
Due
heterogeneity
patient
characteristics,
no
'one
fits
all'
so
far
available;
choice
appropriate
instruments
should
based
on
characteristics

lesion-specific
parameters

morphology
underlying
pathology

an

role.
