ABSTRACT We conducted a lab‐in‐the‐field experiment with 623 top managers from textile and garment firms in Vietnam to investigate the nexus of managers' risk preferences firm investment. find that led by higher levels loss aversion tend have lower investments. The heterogeneity also affects different investment small medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) vis‐à‐vis large firms. Interestingly, our findings reveal has strong link behaviours war‐exposed managers, who born grew up during American war Vietnam. However, this pattern does not hold for their counterparts. This result shows personal early‐life exposure may influence decisions adulthood.

Remarkably, we observe striking evidence significantly affect who were born during Vietnam War. Still, it not story after The results our study expected provide valuable information regarding played by determining pathways.

Background A number of studies have demonstrated that suicidal ideation in late life is associated with early-life circumstances. However, the importance circumstances predicting not entirely clear. This study aims to use a machine learning approach evaluate 32 from six domains old age. Methods The data this come cross-national longitudinal survey, Survey Health, Aging and Retirement Europe (SHARE). Participants recalled information on SHARE wave 7 reported 8. XGBoost model was employed (early-life socioeconomic status, health healthcare, relationship, etc.) middle-aged older adults over 50. Results There were 46,498 participants study, which 26,672 (57.36%) females 19,826 (42.64%) males. showed strong predictive performance, an area under curve 0.80 accuracy 0.77. Top predictors mainly childhood health, healthcare. In particular, having group friends most critically influences Discussion These findings suggest may modestly predict life. Preventive measures can be taken lower risk individuals.

Data link survey responses from 2018 Vietnam Health Aging Study provincial-wide level bombing intensity using U.S. Department of Defense records Theater History Operations database. measured nine items Checklist. Analyses employ multivariate logistic quantile regression. Findings examined for a sample 2290 survivors subsample 736 that moved at least once wartime. Results show robust significant positive association province-wide scores. Interaction effects indicate civilians have overall lower levels than those were but is stronger civilians. Much function less confirm studies shown severe deleterious impacts trauma, arial particularly, on long-term psychological health, while extending extant literature populations living intense aerial episodes.

Abstract Background and Objectives The role of early life stressors in subjective aging is weakly understood, especially low- to middle-income countries. This paper investigated how encountered armed conflict influence age among Vietnamese older adults who experienced war over decades their life. Research Design Methods We analyzed survey data from the 2018 Vietnam Health Aging Study involving 2,447 diverse war-related adulthood. analytical sample (N = 2,341) included 50.9% women 49.1% men, with an average 69.8. 41.1% are military veterans. conducted survey-adjusted multinomial logistic regression analyses mediation predict probability feeling younger or than one’s chronological age. examined childhood adversity (i.e., hunger low parental SES) wartime violence, malevolent environment, service) influenced late-life age, both directly as mediated by mental, functional, physical health. Results found significant associations between adulthood Formal service significantly lessened relative risk subjectively old, more plentiful violence exposures increased Violence exposure’s effects were direct indirect through functional mental Conversely, greater exposure conditions (e.g., shortages clean water evacuations) multiple episodes severe older, Discussion Implications suggest stressors, war’s environments hunger, many conflict-affected populations globally, have potential “age” survivors. Yet, not all equal, some may yield psychological socioeconomic resources that support healthy aging.
