Geopolymer technology is considered a strategic alternative for recycling construction and demolition waste (CDW) to produce new products which meet the requirements of environmental energy sustainability. The separation management CDW fractions still technological complex process and, even if large-scale quite common, necessity perform this treatment may reduce economic benefits reuse. So, very promising option represented by manufacturing geopolymers using unseparated CDW. In aim, deriving from cement-based mortars, bricks natural stones have been selected widely characterized mineralogical, chemical morphological point view. Then, geopolymer mortars were produced several amounts either single fraction or mixture waste. chemical, physical, mechanical, microstructural characterization geopolymer-produced was carried out assess how combination different quantities mixed affected final properties. particular, geopolymeric unselected showed higher mechanical properties, despite lower apparent density, when compared improvement features seems be not amount used, providing encouraging findings promote actual use with resulting enhancement benefits.

Abstract The increasing risk of fire hazards and the environmental burden construction demolition (C&D) waste necessitate sustainable, fire-resistant building materials. This study investigates potential recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) reinforced with fibers to enhance high-temperature performance while promoting utilization. In first phase, mixtures 0%, 25%, 50% (labeled RAC00, RAC25, RAC50) were evaluated at 23 °C, 300 600 °C. RAC00 exhibited a 16% reduction in compressive strength °C over While RAC25 initially showed 10–30% decrease compared conventional room temperature, it only 1% decline 28% making most effective composition for further study. second steel (SF) polypropylene (PPF) incorporated into yielding substantial tensile improvements: RAC25-SF increased by 5.6% 24.8% 28.3% RAC25-PPF 12.5% increase but declined higher temperatures, 9.9% 32.9% SF enhanced across all PPF reduced above 200 Fiber additions improved ductility, toughness, moisture retention, mitigating crack propagation under heat. Statistical modeling using ANOVA response surface methodology (RSM) confirmed high model validity (R 2 > 0.80). concludes that offers heat-resistant material, addressing both resilience C&D challenges.

In Sri Lanka, the management of Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste poses a major problem, leading to environmental degradation and depletion resources. This study aims tackle these issues by examining implementation Circular Economy (CE) strategies within construction industry Lanka. The focus is on reducing generation maximizing resource utilization during demolitions repurpose, as well material recovery production stages building project life cycle. These are crucial in terms consumption. A qualitative approach was employed this research, utilizing Delphi technique gather insights through series three rounds expert interviews. first round, 17 experts were involved, followed 15 second 12 final round. data collected from interviews analysed using manual content analysis methods. Based research findings, total 14 C&D Waste Management (WM) identified specifically Demolitions Repurpose Stage For each issue, suitable proposed overcome them effectively. Furthermore, examined impact CE minimizing context iron triangle. Similarly, Material Recovery Production presented eight WM issues, accompanied corresponding address them. also explored influence mitigating considering During repurpose stage, optimizing utilization. involves carefully deconstructing buildings salvage recover materials that can be reused or repurposed.

In the context of environmental protection, construction industry plays a key role with significant CO2 emissions from mineral-based materials. Recycling these materials is crucial, but presence hazardous substances, i.e., in older building materials, complicates this effort. To be able to legally introduce substances into circular economy, reliable predictions within minimal possible time are necessary. This work introduces machine learning approach for detecting trace quantities (≥0.06 wt%) minerals, exemplified by siderite calcium carbonate mixtures. The model, trained on 1680 X-ray powder diffraction datasets, provides dependable and fast predictions, eliminating need specialized expertise. While limitations exist transferability other mineral traces, offers automation without expertise potential real-world applications prediction time.
