This study uses identity process theory to understand the social–psychological processes that motivate individuals construct an in which music, singing, and singing teaching feature prominently. We conducted reflexive thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews with 10 Australian teachers (with average age 60) how they enacted principles construction maintenance. Findings were captured two themes: (1) ‘It has just been music’: Living a musical life is my destiny; (2) ‘I know value’: Achieving goals music motivating. Participants’ consistent engagement across lifespan satisfied continuity positive distinctiveness. Teacher identity is a complex and non-linear evolution involving knowledge, skill, formation, transformation, scrutiny of what one doing who can become. This phenomenological investigation studied the views 12 early career instrumental music teachers working professionally in Melbourne, Australia. Utilising possible selves theory, interpretative analysis revealed anxieties stresses novice teacher experiences, measuring up barrier breaking professional models relations, evolving from past present experiential encounters. Current perceptions shaped future goals that were crafted through an agentic reality which reconciled their training, apriori experiences with existential positioning field. Participants oscillated between values, attitudes, learning reflecting on current episodes events how these shape trajectories provide vision role status.
