Several tools have been developed in the west on cognitive and other developmental skills children. However, Pakistan, outdated versions of western measures are used to assess abilities The current study aimed develop Functional Cognitive Scale (FCS) for children age 7-12 years basis local norms. A sample 377 with mean = 9.60, SD=1.61 was selected through multistage sampling technique from different public schools city Lahore, Pakistan. FCS constructed by extracting items open-ended interviews parents, teachers, reviewing literature curriculum, consulting experts, carrying out series pilot testing. Factor Analysis using maximum likelihood oblique rotation extracted two sub-factors namely simple complex skills. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed a good fit model similar structure as retained exploratory analysis. found 20-items sound psychometric properties α= .86, split-half .89, test-retest reliability=.82 convergent validity Wechsler memory subscales.
