Introduction Safeguarding college students’ mental health and well-being poses a challenge for administrators clinicians because of the unique circumstances students face limited literature on their needs. Prior to pandemic, depression anxiety were already rise among students, but changes associated with it may have exacerbated these issues. Our study aimed explore factors influencing identify common trends in experiences that could assist organizations policymakers future. Methods The participants (n = 571) chosen using convenience sample undergraduate graduate attending Central Texas university. We employed Qualtrics survey platform collect data multiple demographic variables, behavioral health, other outcomes summer semester 2021. objective this was investigate various contribute conditions, particularly anxiety, depression, independently jointly, by employing two validated tools - Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9), which measures General Anxiety Disorder 7 (GAD-7), anxiety. Results Both displayed satisfactory internal consistency, Cronbach’s alpha coefficients (α) 0.921 PHQ-9 (9-item) scale 0.943 GAD-7 (7-item) scale. prevalence 39.4% 40.1%, respectively, 31% overall reporting both conditions. Among explored factors, age, race, parent/guardian’s level education, campus residence status, insurance status (p < 0.05), whereas gender, education 0.05). Academically, several related learning difficulties (i.e., staying motivated learn, finding quiet place learn) severity severity, demonstrated through composite scores. Conclusion Robust longitudinal studies should be carried out ascertain key influencers affect colleges universities create policies protocols provide support during major catastrophes, such as COVID-19 taking into account factors.
