Critical positive youth development (CPYD) is a promising framework for supporting young people in strengths-based ways to both thrive individually and address structural foundations of social inequity. This literature review explores community music operationalizing CPYD. Database searches were supplemented with expert consultation handsearching identified articles key journals. The authors used purposive sampling strategy within critical interpretive synthesis methodology select 50 exploring outcomes programmes people. They synthesized findings from these cross-disciplinary studies illuminate across the CPYD framework: competence, confidence, compassion, connection, character, contribution consciousness. study affirms use contexts implications health arts practitioners researchers are discussed relation using as potential approach inequity Findings highlight need increased art-based research that how can support equity.

Abstract This article presents outcomes from a critical interpretive synthesis inquiry exploring whether community music can contribute to more equitable societies. Drawing on 74 cross-disciplinary articles, we identify equity-related across three key categories: improve the immediate wellbeing and life trajectories for individuals experiencing disadvantage; relating development of skills, knowledge understandings empowering individual participants enact positive social change within their communities; with potential affect root causes inequity. review provides solid foundation further conceptual theoretical beyond fields justice research music. Our findings will also be helpful translating creative cultural benefits that practice could bring addressing issues in wide range complex contexts.

In March 2020, when COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, therapists were required to make the transition from in-person, face-to-face sessions with clients online telehealth sessions. The challenges for practising Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music particularly difficult. This study conceived understand how GIM managed they perceived differences in-person Seven therapists, all female, living working in Australia completed in-depth interviews June 2022 about each element session, thematic analysis identified grand themes subordinate themes. Results show that there dislocation physical, personal therapy space online, absent cues missed opportunities caregiving. Rapport established therapeutic process developed, but components session not same, therapist challenging. Findings indicate may provide greater opportunity immediacy people have experience GIM, safety depth experience. Limitations future research recommendations are presented.

This thesis explores the lived experiences of clients in group music therapy and those therapists providing services. It focuses on people who have endured or are living through potentially traumatic stressful events such as resettlement COVID-19 pandemic. Ethnography narrative interviewing were implemented with data analysed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. research contributes to field by understanding practices, processes, approaches working an inclusive trauma-aware manner which considers connection, coping resources strategies, identity integral for practitioner client well-being.
