Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a review contemporary perspectives, policies, and practices relating reported vocational education training (VET) teacher recruitment retention challenges, with particular focus on England Australia. Design/methodology/approach This position piece discusses the topic from transnational perspective by reviewing relevant literature examining impact policies in Findings finds that there paucity empirical research VET shortages, but globally, experience sector suggests are challenges recruiting retaining qualified teaching workforce required address current future needs. It recommends further undertaken an international approach better understand problem teachers, leaders, institutions, identify potential solutions. Research limitations/implications does not report studies solutions based respective socioeconomic, demographic, policy contexts.
