Navigating the Limitations of Algorithmic Management: An Integrative Framework of Sociotechnical Systems Theory (STS) and Strategic HRD

This
research
integrates
Sociotechnical
Systems
(STS)
theory
with
strategic
human
resource
development
(SHRD)
to
address
the
potential
biases
and
inequities
in
algorithmic
management
within
workplaces.
Given
SHRD’s
orientation
focus
on
development,
integrating
these
frameworks
has
achieve
both
technological
efficiency
organizational
growth,
while
also
promoting
employee
well-being.
By
analyzing
design,
operating
systems,
work
design
of
STS
through
an
SHRD
lens,
we
propose
STS-SHRD
framework
highlighting
development’s
(HRD)
role
aligning
objectives
processes
for
enhanced
management.
The
proposed
guides
integration
contributes
ongoing
HRD
discourse
by
offering
theoretical
insights
into
collaborative
approaches
that
balance
effectiveness
providing
practical
strategies
professionals
foster
engagement,
promote
equitable
practices,

In
this
study,
the
challenges
faced
by
organisations
in
integrating
artificial
intelligence
(AI)
into
human
resource
management
(HRM)
practises
are
examined.
For
that,
AI
can
bring
significant
benefits,
including
increasing
efficiency
and
decision-making
HR
processes,
namely
recruitment,
performance
evaluation
talent
development.
Its
adoption,
however,
presents
many
technological
infrastructure,
data
privacy,
ethical,
organizational
culture.
This
chapter
investigates
these
barriers,
particularly
importance
of
proper
changes
trade-off
between
element
AI's
capabilities.
The
article
discusses
strategies
for
overcoming
challenges,
practising
ethical
AI,
security
employee
study
offers
actionable
insights
attempting
to
leverage
HRM
a
way
that
succeed
at
both
operational
dimensions.

current
study
aims

synthesize
extant
studies
across
various
fields
that
have
discussed
the
use
of
generative
artificial
intelligence
(GAI)
in
instructional
procedures
or
processes.
This
adopted
Analysis,
Design,
Development,
Implementation,
Evaluation
(ADDIE)
model
since
it
is
most
widely
used
training
design
model.
An
integrative
literature
review
71
articles
was
conducted
as
primary
methodology.
We
analyzed
summarized
information
about
(a)
integration
implementation
GAI
each
stage
ADDIE
(b)
suggested
uses
based
on
further
leverage
what
can
offer.
Potential
ethical
concerns
recommendations
are
also
examined
for
future
research
practice
using
ADDIE.

with
a
discussion
