BACKGROUND Health education and promotion are recognized as effective strategies for fostering healthy ageing, reducing the disease burden, addressing health inequalities, particularly when delivered through digital media. Primary care workers often regarded key providers of these interventions. Despite strong practical significance substantial individual demand, use media delivering practices was not widespread in China. One main challenges identified is providers’ inadequate capacities. However, little known about capacity among primary workers. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate levels its associated factors community METHODS A total 1346 were recruited from across 47 communities Shanghai, China, cluster-stratified random sampling. The measured using revised version Digital Capabilities Framework. Web-based questionnaires distributed collect data March 20 29, 2024. Data analyzed descriptive statistics, independent t tests, one-way ANOVA, linear hierarchical regression Stata MP (version 17.0; StataCorp). RESULTS We included 1199 participants. Among them, 47.5% (570/1199) had high more than 19.6 hours per week, whereas 31.8% (381/1199) demonstrated trust. average level 16.71 (SD 2.94) out 25 points. Demographics, usage–related characteristics, perceived usefulness usability, attitudes, behaviors significant predictors capacities, explaining 44.4% variance. Master’s degree or above (β=.077; P=.013), usability (β=.235; P<.001), attitudes toward (β=.095; P=.002), past (β=.377; P<.001) significantly positive associations with capacities promotion. senior (β=–.076; P=.008) median (β=–.074; P=.01) titles a negative association levels. CONCLUSIONS digitally capable workforce required systems take full advantage Therefore, solutions necessary achieve enhanced professionals, including public policy making, empowerment, practices.

BACKGROUND The increasing availability of digital health resources and applications poses a growing demand on the skills needed to fully use these technologies. Without contextual assessment people's proficiency with electronic resources, or literacy (DHL), existing divide may widen, particularly among disadvantaged groups such as older people. presence valid reliable tools for measuring DHL adults is crucial. OBJECTIVE purpose this scoping review explore current research used assess seniors’ their psychometric properties. METHODS An extensive search was conducted February 16, 2024, using four databases: PubMed, Web Science, Embase, Scopus. A language filter applied include only articles written in English Italian, publications from any year were considered. focused primary studies involving participants aged 60 older, where quantitatively measured that provided numerical values. properties each tool, available, collected, quality all included assessed. RESULTS yielded 6879 records; 211 assessed eligibility, 37 ultimately review. substantial number Asia (25/37) United States (8/37), cross-sectional design being most prevalent (29/37). Most eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS), monodimensional, 8-item tool which proved high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha 0.85-0.99) good test-retest reliability. Digital Health Instrument (DHLI) 5-dimension, 21-item developed reflect wider concept DHL. Other Assessment (DHLAS) EHealth Questionnaire (EHLQ). Overall, exhibited relatively low DHL, no relevant differences observed between Eastern Western countries. Quality appraisal revealed reporting but also highlighted common biases, reliance self-reported measures, can lead information, recall, social desirability bias, selection bias due convenience sampling other non-randomized approaches. CONCLUSIONS an evolving, process-oriented skill shaped by technological changes, yet many researchers still rely before present era, when primarily limited searching appraising online information. Research prone bias. eHEALS frequently tool: although transculturally validated, eHEALS, almost 20 years ago, assesses abilities. More recent tools, validated range and, some cases, provide objective should be considered further rapidly evolving field research.
