Chronic loneliness adversely impacts both mental and physical health. As current interventions are only moderately effective, examining vulnerability factors reflected in interpersonal behavior their relationships with specific chronic subtypes may provide insights. The present study explored the associations between two of loneliness: emotional (a longing for intimate connections) social (dissatisfaction quantity quality one's network). sample consisted 294 university students who had recently started at a new university. Participants completed surveys across three time points, separated by three-month intervals, including questionnaires on loneliness, adult attachment styles, behavioral features disorders. Compassionate university practices can increase students’ sense of belonging and lead to higher wellbeing. This study presents qualitative data from a UK collected as part the Nurture-U Campus project. Experiences transition were gathered 32 students across five focus groups. Data analysed using narrative analysis, conducted jointly by an academic researcher student advisors. Results are presented three phases: (1) Expectations: participants hoped for liberal inclusive environments, but university’s reputation white, middle-class raised concerns some. (2) Navigating new social environment: on arrival, compassion was visible in welcoming individuals, lacked where felt othered. (3) Finding your people: many found friends who had shared experiences, this took time could cause further isolation. Growing concerns over gambling problems across age groups have sparked research in public health and psychology. During emerging adulthood, individuals are more susceptible to mental likely develop than other groups. This study explored the potential differences between adults aged 30+ terms of problem severity (PGS), gambling-related harm (GRH), depression anxiety, mediating role anxiety association age, PGS, GRH. A representative online sample 3244 Israelis 18 was divided into two groups: 740 18–29 2504 30+. Gambling behaviors, Problem Severity Index, Short Harm Screen, Patient Health Questionnaire-4 assessing were administered. Loneliness has become a great public health concern in the Western world, with emerging adults being particularly vulnerable. Aims: Most lifetime mental health disorders begin by age 25 years, and the prevalence among young people has been increasing over recent years. We sought to understand what impact, if any, social determinants have had on this increase through analysis of an Australian longitudinal dataset (with data from 2007 2021). Methods: The focused five determinants: loneliness lack support, family relationships, participation in education employment, receipt government benefits relative socio-economic status. analysed cross-sectional changes self-reported psychological distress between 2021 (using Kessler-10 item; K10 scores) examined effects these using weighted linear regression models. Abstract This pre‐registered secondary analysis aimed to examine distinct longitudinal loneliness trajectories in youth and whether these were associated with psychological distress at final follow‐up the UK Household Longitudinal Study. Participants ( N = 827, 55.1% female, Time 1: M ± SD 16.50 0.50 years) provided data during Waves 9, 10 11. K‐means clustering was used identify clusters of participants across measurement waves. We identified four demonstrating loneliness: stable low (40.7%), high (20.6%), moderate decreasing (19.6%) increasing (19.1%). Emerging adults seek solitude because of different underlying motivational and emotional processes. The current short-term longitudinal study aimed to: (1) identify subgroups socially withdrawn emerging characterized by motivations for (shyness, unsociability, social avoidance) affect (positive, negative); (2) compare these in terms indices internalizing difficulties life-satisfaction. Participants were N = 348 university students (Mage 21.85 years, SD 3.84) from Italy, who completed online questionnaires at two-time points separated three months. Results a latent profile analysis (LPA) suggested distinct withdrawal (i.e., shy, unsociable, avoidant), as well non-withdrawn subgroup (characterized low motivations, negative affect, high positive affect). Among the results, avoidant reported highest levels anxiety, whereas shy loneliness lowest life satisfaction. unsociable appeared to be most well-adjusted similar satisfaction subgroup. Educational transitions can influence loneliness and increase mental health issues for young people transitioning between educational stages.
