Background Vaccination is an effective measure to prevent herpes zoster and its related complications. The coverage of vaccination extremely low in China, there a notable lack research investigating the barriers promoting vaccine China. Objectives This study aims survey status (HZ) associated factors among individuals aged 50 years older, it also seeks identify dissemination, thereby providing scientific foundation for enhancing rate zoster. Methods From March August 2023, questionnaire was conducted using multi-stage sampling method on permanent residents older Chaoyang district Beijing. Logistic regression analysis decision tree models were employed explore predictors behavior. Results 13.26% (403/3040), with 52.4% respondents expressing willingness but not yet receiving vaccine, while 34.31% (1,043/3040) unwilling be vaccinated. Among those willing vaccinated, 48.06% cited high cost as reason abstaining from vaccination. Multivariate logistic revealed that certain lower coverage, including being female, having frequency influenza episodes (less than twice per year), chronic diseases. On other hand, higher observed whose spouses had master’s degree or higher, awarded history chickenpox may lead potential infection, who knowledgeable about received recommendations medical staff. Additionally, model confirmed staff most significant impact Conclusion reveals generally over this area. It recommended enhance role advocating vaccination, conduct community-based educational initiatives focus varicella, zoster, knowledge, alleviate financial burden improve coverage.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly altered public perceptions of vaccines, particularly among parents. In high-income countries like the United Kingdom (UK) and Australia, factors such as misinformation, expedited approval process vaccines unique local challenges have contributed to vaccine hesitancy, resulting in uneven uptake across various vaccination programs. Despite efforts school-based influenza programs UK free rates continue decline. This is especially concerning given concurrent circulation during winter months, which places additional strain on healthcare systems. Drawing existing evidence, this commentary examines key influencing childhood provides preliminary policy recommendations address these challenges. Three actionable are outlined, including strategies counter improve accessibility, strengthen trust These insights aim guide development effective interventions increase uptake.
