This brief report describes a small-scale feasibility study investigating the use of mobile Experience Sampling Methodology (ESM) for collecting data on intentionality in music listening well-being. Sixteen university students used MuPsych app ( Randall and Rickard, 2012 ) 2-week pilot (resulting 263 episode responses), with seven participating semi-structured follow-up interviews. Data was collected at baseline then triggered by episodes 0, 5 20 min. Baseline measures were wellbeing; included choice, purpose, context, mood. After assigning listeners to languishing, moderate, or flourishing wellbeing categories, differences became apparent participants’ experiences music. Several challenges experienced self-selection biased reporting participants as well technological limitations collection techniques. Recommendations future ESM studies everyday are offered.

Abstract This manuscript introduces a novel method for conducting behavioral and social research by streaming real-time information to participants manipulating content experimental purposes via AI. We present an extension of the Samply software, which facilitates integration event-related data with mobile surveys experiments. To assess feasibility this method, we conducted experiment where news headlines were modified Chat-GPT algorithm streamed Stream API push notifications. Feedback from indicated that most did not experience technical problems. There was no significant difference in readability across original, paraphrased, misinformation-injected conditions, only 1.2% all items reported as unreadable. Participants significantly less familiarity (84% unfamiliarity) compared original paraphrased (73% unfamiliarity), suggesting successful manipulation without compromising readability. Dropout non-response rates comparable those other sampling studies. The offers potential various applications, including public opinion research, healthcare, marketing, environmental monitoring. By enabling collection contextually relevant data, has enhance external validity provides powerful tool studying human behavior naturalistic settings.

Background: Ecological momentary assessment (EMA) involves collecting data from people in their everyday lives one or more times per day over the course of days, weeks, months. EMA has been used traumatic stress field to better understand how trauma-relevant symptoms, experiences, and behaviours occur under naturalistic conditions relation another. The FAIR principles specify that should be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable maximise knowledge gained individual research studies. However, it is unclear design decisions procedures might affect implementation these principles.
