Method We searched PubMed PsycINFO titles abstracts, using “NES” search term, articles published English between January 1, 2013 August 12, 2024 sample sizes > 10 ages 18 older. Eligible were coded definitions assessment method used diagnose participants information comorbidity any other disorder (ED). Results Seventy‐three met inclusion criteria. Most commonly, was diagnosed criteria set (35/73) symptom score threshold (34/73); among former, only eight studies employed DSM‐5 Thirteen studies, varying widely methodology, examined EDs, most commonly binge‐eating where high. Conclusion Heterogeneity impede progress study strategies developing definition addressing gaps.
