Abstract Background With growing prevalence of dementia worldwide, risk reduction is a key interest the World Health Organization’s Global Dementia Action Plan. Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) prominent predictor future diagnosis. Therefore, people with SCD are an important group for prevention intervention. Exercise and healthy diet associated 30–60% decrease in longitudinal studies. Technological advances yield potential trials that deliver lifestyle interventions virtually, reaching wide geographical spread. However, feasibility large-scale virtual still needs to be established. Objective This trial aims examine factorial randomized controlled exploring 6-month virtual, exercise Methods We will recruit 140 older adults (65 + years) SCD, who receive combination of: Aerobic Resistance (EX) or Stretching Toning (STRETCH) either Diet Counselling (DIET) Brain Education (ED);. Participants four weekly hours one intervention arms: (1) EX DIET; 2) ED; 3) STRETCH 4) ED. include moderate intensity aerobic resistance training. DIET instruct participants brain food choices. Assessments performed virtually at baseline, 6 months (post-intervention), 12 months. Feasibility measured by recruitment rate, adherence, retention. Discussion Established set stage definitive trial. results also inform programs/services. Abstract Background Mobility is fundamental to healthy ageing and quality of life. decline has been associated with functional impairment, falls, disability, dependency, death among older adults. We explored the sociodemographic determinants mobility community-dwelling Canadians. Methods This study was a secondary analysis six-year follow-up Canadian Longitudinal Study on Ageing (CLSA). Our based 3882 adults 65 years or whose measured using timed-up go (TUG) 4-meter walk (4MWT) tests at baseline follow-ups 1 2 after three- intervals, respectively. analysed cross-sectional longitudinal association, main interaction effects participants’ characteristics chi-square, Pearson’s correlation, mixed-design repeated measures ANOVA, bivariate multivariate linear regression tests. Results At baseline, 52% participants were female, 70.4% married, average age 68.82 ± 2.78 years. Mean TUG 4MWT scores 9.59 1.98 s 4.29 0.95 s, There strong positive correlation between ( r = 0.65 0.75, p < 0.001), indicating concurrent validity 4MWT. The (for TUG) showed that (β 0.088, being female (β=-0.035, retired (β=-0.058, born (β=-0.046, non-Caucasian (β=-0.063, tenant 0.050, having no spouse/partner (β=-0.057, household income $50,000-$99,999 0.039, wealth/investment lower than $50,000 (β=-0.089, social status (β=-0.018, 0.025), education below 0.043, living in certain provinces compared others, significant predictors decline. Conclusion underscored impact modifiable non-modifiable trajectory. need for nuanced policies support adults, considering inequalities through equitable resource distribution, including people socioeconomic backgrounds.

The objective of this study is to analyze older adults' familiarity with new transportation options and their perception towards autonomous vehicles, as well the impact factors associated barriers on these aspects, in Arkansas, a predominantly rural state. Data from 775 adults aged 60 years or were collected between October 2021 2022. To fulfill objective, used Latent Class Cluster Analysis segment into classes based both perceptions vehicles. By incorporating covariates model, effects class membership analyzed. Results revealed that three adults: 1 showed least held negative attitudes vehicles; 2 exhibited greater but expressed 3 had positive Also, all unfamiliarity covariates' analysis demonstrated significantly influenced by individual, social, environmental related barriers. These findings addressed unique needs terms access within context state, which has remained unexplored existing literature. also provided several policy insights, addressing age, gender, income, urban-rural gaps accessing options, along incentives targeting non-drivers, low-income individuals, mobility constraints.

Abstract Context Osteoporosis is a prevalent concern, particularly among aging populations, leading to increased risk of fractures, including those related hip and knee arthroplasty procedures. Screening for osteoporosis, especially with dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scans, crucial early detection management. Objectives This study aimed assess adherence osteoporosis screening guidelines patients aged 65 older undergoing elective total (THA) or (TKA) within single health network. Factors influencing were also explored. Methods A retrospective chart review 2,160 THA TKA between January 2019 2023 was conducted. Demographic data, status, occurrence periprosthetic fractures analyzed. Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics chi-square tests. Results Only 24.1 % eligible underwent DXA scan prior surgery. Females more likely undergo than males, race associated status. 45 identified, no significant correlation screening, fracture occurrence. Conclusions Adherence geriatric joint remains low the studied Despite lack in this study, importance potential optimization high-risk emphasized. Further research needed outcomes different care pathways bone management patients.
