Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by persistent deficits in social communication and interaction, along with restricted repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. ASD encompasses wide spectrum clinical presentations functional impairments, ranging from mild to severe. Despite its prevalence, the underlying physiopathological mechanisms remain largely unknown, resulting lack effective targeted therapeutic interventions, contributing significant financial emotional burdens on affected families healthcare system. Emerging evidence suggests that dysfunction tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) pathway may impair activity monoaminergic nitric oxide (NO)-dependent neurons individuals ASD.
