Emotional Intelligence and Behavioural Addictions: A Systematic Review

Background:
The
role
of
emotional
intelligence
on
the
experience
behavioural
addictions
is
a
growing
area
research
interest.
However,
there
are
operationalisation
issues
in
studying
both
and
separately.
This
review
aims
to
report
existing
literature
studies
exploring
relationship
between
these
two
concepts,
identify
gaps
practice
order
inform
future
studies.
Methods:
A
search,
covering
date
range
2013–2024,
conducted
five
databases
August
2024
identified
43
articles,
reported
according
PRISMA
2020
guidelines.
findings
discussed
under
four
subheadings:
technology-related
addiction,
internet
gaming
disorder,
eating
disorders,
consumer
behaviour
compulsive
buying.
Results:
Overall,
results
show
that
negatively
correlated
with
plays
moderating
mediating
associations
other
negative
outcomes
such
as
suicidal
ideation,
rumination,
fear
missing
out,
depression.
Conclusions:
In
addition
summarising
controversial
discussions
addictions,
this
suggests
possible
roadmaps
ensure
more
accurate
by
highlighting
importance
theoretical
methodological
distinctions
trait
ability
models
intelligence.

This
systematic
review
provides
a
detailed
synthesis
of
existing
research
on
the
impact
smartphone
use
cognitive
processes.
Adhering
to
preferred
reporting
items
for
reviews
and
meta-analyses
principles,
we
performed
thorough
search
across
many
databases,
which
led
identification
studies
that
satisfied
our
rigorous
inclusion
criteria.
The
results
study
demonstrate
notable
association
between
usage
smartphones
alterations
in
attention
span,
memory
retrieval,
executive
functioning.
These
findings
emphasize
importance
raising
awareness
implementing
interventions
reduce
negative
effects
linked
excessive
usage.

Abstract
There
is
growing
evidence
on
the
impact
of
technology
addiction
different
aspects
college
/
university
students´
life;
however,
its
relationship
towards
academic
achievement
has
been
understudied
so
far.
Following
a
prolonged
period
pandemic
restrictions
and
online
study,
there
need
to
explore
how
was
impacted
mediated
by
health-related
psychological
factors.
The
aim
this
intercultural
study
find
out
smartphone
internet
addiction,
mental
health
(depression,
anxiety,
stress,
resilience),
personality
traits
interact
affect
individual
Czech
Chinese
students.
Data
from
an
survey
that
included
number
tests
were
analyzed
using
path
analysis.
Academic
correlated
positively
with
in
students,
compared
opposite
trend
sample.
Except
for
common
influences
gender,
extroversion,
conscientiousness,
factors
specific
sample
(agreeableness,
anxiety),
as
