Experiences of fasting during Ramadan in British Muslims: Psychological, social and health behaviours

Ramadan
is
a
month-long
religious
festival
observed
by
Muslim
worldwide,
characterised
intermittent
fasting.
This
qualitative
study
addressed
the
need
to
understand
how
fasting
experienced
Muslims
residing
in
Western
cultures,
aiming
inform
policies
that
create
more
supportive
environment.
Practicing
Muslims,
both
men
and
women,
were
recruited

Abstract
Background
Breakfast
is
the
first
meal
of
day
which
very
important
in
student’s
health.
The
present
study
was
undertaken
to
explore
role
breakfast
skipping
altering
serum
lipids
university
students.
In
this
case-control
study,
students
from
various
disciplines
at
Shah
Abdul
Latif
University,
Khairpur,
Pakistan
were
selected
January
2021
August
2023
after
obtaining
written
informed
consent.
Methods
Four
hundred
fifty
(450)
selected,
among
them,
158
Skippers
(BS)
and
292
non-skippers
(BNS).
Of
total,
256
males
194
females
with
age
range
18–25
years.
All
participants
enquired
about
their
soci-demographic
characteristics
intake
during
last
3
months.
Blood
samples
also
collected
for
analysis
on
auto
analyzer
ADVIA
1800

BACKGROUND:
Intermittent
fasting
(IF)
has
gained
widespread
attention
globally
as
a
dietary
practice
for
its
potential
health
benefits
and
role
in
weight
management,
metabolic
health,
overall
well-being.
OBJECTIVE:

evaluate
the
characteristics,
reasons,
outcomes

IF
among
individuals
living
Riyadh,
Saudi
Arabia.
METHODOLOGY:
