Prospective association of tobacco retailer density and neighbourhood walkability with youth vaping initiation in California, USA

Background
Tobacco
retailer
density
might
influence
youth
e-cigarette
use
due
to
increased
access
and
exposure
point-of-sale
marketing.

waves

INTRODUCTION
Electronic
cigarette
(e-cigarette)
use
has
increased
globally
among
adolescents.However,
data
on
its
adolescents
in
Saudi
Arabia
remain
limited.Therefore,
this
study
describes
the
characteristics
and
factors
associated
with
e-cigarette
population.METHODS
Data
from
2022
Global
Youth
Tobacco
Survey
targeting
students
aged
13-15
years
were
analyzed.This
examined
current
ever
of
e-cigarettes
as
dependent
variables,
sociodemographic
characteristics,
smoking
behaviors,
exposure
to
tobacco-related
messages
independent
variables.RESULTS
Among
adolescents,
14.2%
had
used
e-cigarettes,
while
5.3%
users.Older
exhibited
a
higher
prevalence
(12%,
13%,
19%

years,
respectively).Of

smoked
cigarettes,
44%
reported
using

more
likely
be
users

Abstract
Introduction
Young
people
who
use
nicotine‐containing
electronic
cigarettes,

addicted

Introduction
Rising
use
of
electronic
nicotine
delivery
system
(ENDS)

people,
