Background/Objectives: physical activity (PA) in children offers lifelong benefits, yet nearly four five are insufficiently active. We examined sex-specific differences sport participation by type and its association with weight status. Methods: the ongoing hand-on-heart-study (“Hand-aufs-Herz”), comprehensive data on sociodemographic profiles, PA, anthropometry were collected from 922 school-aged children, adolescents, young adults (8–20 years) Germany. Sex-specific participation, types, status analyzed using descriptive statistics logistic regression models. Results: based eligibility criteria for analysis (ages 8–18 years), 883 pupils included (mean age 13.1 ± 2.4 406 (46%) females. Compared to females, males had a 43% higher chance of being members sports club more likely spend days/week (44–85%). Males participated football, martial arts, basketball while females favored gymnastics volleyball. As increased, 30% likelihood not (females: 13%). Overweight/obese twice risk lacking memberships. Targeted strategies focus promoting inclusive non-competitive activities that cater interests.
