ABSTRACT Gender-based violence refers to directed against a person because of that person’s gender or affects persons particular disproportionately. It is estimated 30% women worldwide have suffered either physical and/or sexual in their lifetime. Primary Health Care could be one the ideal places for detection these situations, but most cases remain undetected as victims often decline seek medical care after suffering an event. This work shows public primary health system Catalonia might registering only around 50% currently, and it will take more than 20 years see whole picture phenomenon, situation same countries with similar socioeconomic contexts. We found previous studies gender-based are severely underregistered from judicial perspectives, on basis qualitative analyses survey data. Furthermore, we propose statistical modelling approach able estimate actual burden this issue accurately. Our results show awareness training campaigns focused healthcare professionals very effective reducing underreporting should conducted repeatedly not once.
