This study engaged key stakeholders-older adults, family caregivers, home care support workers, nurses, and healthcare leaders-to explore perspectives on essential components integration into models, to the role of their technology readiness for health smart homes adoption. A qualitative methodology with a quantitative component, early-phase exploratory design. Semi-structured interviews underwent thematic analysis, cross-case analysis comparing stakeholder identify convergences divergences. Descriptive statistics were used analyse Technology Readiness Index (TRI 2.0) survey data provide background context findings. Among 18 participants-older adults (n = 6), caregivers 2), nurses 7), workers/healthcare leaders 3)-findings reflected optimism adoption its potential ageing in place. Nurses workers saw as tool improving coordination quality life. Key considerations included education, visualisation, privacy, security. scores moderate, scoring highest (3.52), followed by (3.41), (3.13), older (3.10). While stakeholders open integrating care, concerns around usability, security, training must be addressed facilitate Findings suggest that while holds promise enhancing place, varying levels across highlight need tailored education strategies ensure successful implementation. Despite strong preference place among technologies remains challenging. issues include ensuring intuitive functionality, protecting clarifying roles professionals technology-enhanced model. addresses critical gap understanding how solutions can effectively diverse needs workers. Stakeholders generally optimistic about supporting highlighted visualisations, alert parameters, clear guidelines. novel finding was viewed way reduce intrusive monitoring, promote independence, maintain familiar living environment. Family valued ability stay involved remotely through activity data, offering reassurance peace mind. Across all groups, privacy safeguards seen essential, transparent usage policies, user control over sharing. have implications community-dwelling professionals, researchers, developers. Insights from this inform design user-friendly technologies, shape future research, guide implementation settings. An advisory group Western Australia provided input methodology. Their recommendations led use one-on-one accessibility relevance when exploring integration. did not contribute itself or feedback shaped method engagement participants.

Welfare technology (WT) use is increasingly advocated to facilitate aging in place. However, it remains unclear how older adults and homecare staff perceive these digital technologies practice. This qualitative study investigated the ways which current WT either facilitated or fell short supporting their daily lives at work. Four key themes were developed using thematic analysis: 1) Successes challenges with ease of (i.e., simple interact WT); 2) usefulness effective achieving its intended purpose); 3) Challenges appearance, sounds physical location; 4) technical maintenance vulnerabilities. Findings revealed paradoxes both adult user perceptions. For instance, some successes WT’s highlighted, like GPS safety alarms independence. also exposed, hiding “overused” alarms. Except for medication robot, none devices clearly alleviated anticipated shortages. perceived as auditorily visually inadequate, that required more effort than users could comfortably manage, organizations seamlessly integrate, generally regarded challenging. To overcome such challenges, greater involvement from design implementation within contexts necessary. Refined criteria prescribing individuals, particularly regarding cognitive status, are additionally recommended by researchers.
