This study explores the prospective of risperidone-loaded β-cyclodextrin nanosponges as a therapeutic strategy for managing altered mental status (AMS) and delirium in cancer patients. Almost 87% patients with advanced experience AMS or delirium, significantly impacting prognosis quality life. The present aims to enhance solubility, bioavailability, effectiveness second-generation antipsychotic medication risperidone (RSP), poor aqueous it was encapsulated nanosponges. prepared by fusion technique using different β-CD: DPC molar ratios, were tested their ability encapsulation efficiency, drug loading, dissolutions kinetics. Batch 1, (1:1 ratio) exhibits RSP loading capacity (454.2 µg/mg) efficiency (90.84%) along DSC FTIR also confirmed that successfully without any chemical interactions. In vitro dissolution studies demonstrated biphasic release profile, an initial burst followed sustained release, governed Fickian diffusion kinetics modeling. improved solubility profile will be significant improve delivery, ensuring better symptom management vulnerable population. These findings highlight potential innovative adaptable platform enhancing delivery.

Research on the relationship between small-area-level deprivation and cancer survival, particularly for colorectal (CRC), is lacking. Therefore, we investigated among small area-level deprivation, individual-level factors, CRC survival using data from Busan Regional Cancer Registry. We analyzed 34,999 patients with Registry 2003 to 2020. The primary outcome was mortality. explanatory variables at individual level included age, gender, stage, year of diagnosis, whereas Deprivation Index (DI) used regional level. conducted a multilevel analysis frailty assess impact individual- factors probabilities. In model, each unit increase in DI area associated 6.6% decrease probability. When applying Model 2 deriving estimates empirical Bayesian estimation method, graph (x-axis) against probability (y-axis) showed that slope 3-year 5-year probabilities increased compared 1-year rate across all stages disease. Additionally, slopes were steeper distant stage than local or stages. Small-area negatively affects especially distant-stage those longer disease duration.

Abstract Background The scarcity of oncology specialists poses a significant challenge globally, particularly in regions with limited healthcare resources. This leads to delayed diagnoses and disparities care. shortage services disproportionately affects vulnerable populations, leading delays diagnosis, treatment, poorer outcomes. Aim study investigates the implications resource scarcity, focusing on South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, aiming analyse challenges, interventions, lessons from other countries. Method review employed mixed-method research design encompassing an empirical literature case approach. It drew existing data impact patient Results Cancer-related mortality province remains considerable, lung cancer emerging as cause, underscoring need for comprehensive control strategies. Infrastructure between urban rural areas compound access facilities remote regions. Conclusion Urgent action is needed address improve care outcomes, underserved Targeted interventions countries can enhance quality reduce Contribution study’s findings have African health policy, regarding urgent critical like underscores necessity strategy

Abstract Background Cancer survivors are at higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and face worse morbidity mortality outcomes than the general population. The American Heart Association (AHA) introduced Life’s Essential 8 framework, encompassing eight modifiable factors lifestyle behaviors for maintaining ideal health (CVH). Although this framework is well-established predicting CVH in population, studies on its association with among cancer remain scattered across literature. Objective This review maps existing literature surrounding factors, behaviors, CVH, to take stock what known, identify methodological strengths weaknesses, propose promising research directions. Methods A scoping was conducted examining different dimensions adult survivors. Measurement methods metrics, determinants associated were examined. Results Twenty-two articles met eligibility criteria. Of which, 82% ( n = 18) published or after 2020. Fourteen (about 64%) followed AHA’s conceptualize CVH. Higher scores linked better associations noted social inequalities neighborhood environmental underscoring complexity Conclusions Research appears have accelerated recent years, yet many gaps orient clinical public practice. Promising directions include expanding investigations into pre-diagnosis addressing disparities diverse populations, conducting longitudinal clarify causal pathways between treatments, outcomes.

Background: Childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivors (CAYACS) face significant long-term health risks, yet adherence to follow-up (LTFU) care remains inconsistent. This study explores the concept of akrasia (i.e., acting against one’s better judgment by engaging in behaviors known be harmful or counterproductive) understand psychological, cognitive, systemic barriers influencing survivor engagement LTFU. Method: Using an ethical reflection approach based on a literature review, we discussed experiences, behavioral science insights, principles identify solutions that balance patient autonomy with supportive interventions. A narrative was used summarize key points during ethics group meetings. Results: Our findings highlight such as trauma, avoidance behaviors, cognitive constraints contribute non-adherence. Strategies shared decision-making, digital tools, nudge-based interventions are proposed enhance engagement. Ethical considerations emphasize need for personalized flexible approaches respect agency while mitigating obstacles adherence. Conclusions: Addressing through frameworks could improve LTFU adherence, ultimately enhancing survivorship outcomes.
