This study investigated the presence, distribution, and antimicrobial resistance profiles of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli in a dairy herd located Northern Italy. The feces clinically healthy calves, their mothers, cows treated for mastitis, as well water, environmental samples, waste milk were collected subjected to bacteriological culture on CHROMagarTM ESBL plates. A questionnaire was administered identify risk factors. isolates identified E. by MALDI-TOF MS double-disk synergy test (DDST) minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) assay. As result, isolated from 28 37 (75.67%) 2 3 (66.67%) cows, 8 14 (57.15%) milk. All showed multiple resistances categorized multidrug-resistant (MDR). Several factors selection diffusion identified, including lack routine cleaning calf feeding housing equipment, administration male blanket dry cow therapy. In conclusion, this highlighted presence MDR, most association with different sample sources. Accordingly, adding prudent use antibiotics, adoption adequate farm hygiene biosecurity measures might also help prevent spread transmission within herd.

Klebsiella pneumoniae is a significant global public health burden, especially in low-income countries and regions with fragile healthcare infrastructures, due to its ability cause severe infections, increase mortality rates, rising antimicrobial resistance. This study aimed estimate the proportion of multidrug-resistant (MDR) K. infections identify associated risk factors. Data were retrospectively collected from three academic hospitals Beirut, Lebanon, between January 2021 September 2023 using standardized form. Binary logistic regression was used determine factors MDR, extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing, carbapenem-resistant (CRKP) infections. Out 2,655 cases, 410 met inclusion criteria. The primary infection sources urinary tract (58.3%) respiratory (12.4%). Among isolates, 61% MDR pneumoniae, 7.3% being extensively drug-resistant, 0.5% pandrug-resistant. Additionally, 36.8% ESBL-producing, while 6.3% CRKP. Predictors significantly included male sex (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 3.46, 95% CI 1.01–11.86, P 0.04), recent antibiotics use (AOR 4.52, 1.65–12.36, 0.003), cancer chemotherapy 3.43, 1.25–9.42, 0.01). ESBL-producing age ≥ 65 years, higher Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), antibiotic use. CRKP linked sex, prior use, longer hospital stays (all < 0.05). are steadily along an cases. main for chemotherapy. advanced age, CCI, prolonged stays. situation further exacerbated by inadequate infrastructure suboptimal national surveillance. Extended-spectrum-β-lactamase (ESBL) and carbapenemase-producing Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae Acinetobacter spp. are associated with hospital-acquired infections commonly isolated across the poultry food production chain. Comprehensive data regarding prevalence, spatiotemporal variations, characterization of β-lactam-resistant bacteria in farms slaughterhouses is scarce. This study examines prevalence characteristics E. K. pneumoniae, from farms, slaughterhouses, personnel Greece. Strains were selectively identified via MALDI-TOF MS, which was also employed to identify possible relatedness. coli isolates further classified into phylogenetic groups. The strains farm slaughterhouse environments 15.0% (n = 15 strains)/57.3% 71 strains) for 11.0% 11 strains)/1.6% 2 1.0% 1 strain)/25.8% 38 spp., respectively. on farmers’ skin 16.7% 8.3% strain), correspondingly. Significantly higher isolation rates observed warmer seasons. All multidrug-resistant most carried ESBL/AmpC genes. Most belonged phylogroups A (41.4%, n 36) B1 (24.1%, 21). Proteomic analysis indicated relatedness among different regions Thus, may serve as significant reservoirs

Wastewater systems are usually considered antibiotic resistance hubs connecting human society and the natural environment. Antibiotic usage can increase abundance of both ARGs (antibiotic genes) MGEs (mobile gene elements). Understanding transcriptomic profiles remains a major research goal. Batch experiments were conducted by adding ampicillin to fresh activated sludge final concentrations 100 20 mg/L. The concentration was detected via UPLC‒MS/MS. Metatranscriptomic data from samples in reactors time series (0 10 h). transcription summarized searching metatranscriptomic datasets against related databases. During incubation, dosed could be removed completely within 8.5 h 4 h, following first-order biodegradation kinetics models (R2: 0.983–0.991). phylogenetic composition ARG at DNA level remained stable. At transcriptional level, significant upregulation class A beta-lactamase (P14171 gene) observed. P14171 is mostly spread wastewater treatment carried Rhodobacteraceae. Transcription (especially TnpA) sul1 stimulated external ampicillin. However, no correlations (ρ > 0.7, p < 0.01) between across all detected. only key that responded degradation tested systems, indicating its ability potential health risk. Urinary tract infections (UTI) are a significant problem among populations worldwide. It is mainly associated with the increasing incidence of recurrence, complications and drug resistance uropathogens. The aim this study was to demonstrate prevalence pathogens causing urinary infections. material for data obtained from Mazovian Specialized Hospital (M.S.H) in Radom over period 2 years. Urine collected hospitalized patients UTI. Statistical calculations were performed using statistical software. During period, 3,917 underwent microbiological examination urine, almost 15% them found be infected Based on analysis susceptibility most common uropathogens, it shown that caused by Escherichia coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae, others, often show high fluoroquinolones β-lactam antibiotics. Proteus mirabilis strains have been more resistant aminoglycosides than beta-lactams. In case Pseudomonas aeruginisa, predominates. On other hand, UTI Acientobacter baumannii should treated based results testing due multidrug-resistant strains.
