Abstract Canagliflozin is a synthetic sodium glucose transporter inhibitor (SGLT2i). It the latest approved class of medicine used in treatment type 2 diabetes mellitus. As emerging as most common metabolic disorder, SGLT2i has lightened up path with additional benefits. SGLT2 located proximal convoluted tubules nephron and responsible for reabsorption. Thus, inhibiting leads to decline concentration plasma. The secondary effects canagliflozin, such cardiac protection, renoprotective, decreased obesity, have made it more putative There are some side volume depletion, genital urinary tract infection, lower limb amputation, which could be matter concern patients. Being an anti-diabetic drug, canagliflozin also possesses anti-inflammatory anti-cancer properties. Several studies been conducted determine efficacy agent. Its pharmacokinetics indicate rapid absorption, reaching peak plasma concentrations within 1–2 hours. With half-life approximately 12 hours, undergoes minimal hepatic metabolism primarily excreted unchanged via urine. Common adverse drug reactions (ADRs) include infections dehydration. Clinical trials on both alone combination other complications, conducted, completed others various phases. This review article contains information about pharmacokinetics, safety, profile along details regarding toxicological canagliflozin.
