The association of different sensory inputs enhances brain plasticity in patients after stroke, but no studies have associated Action Observation Training (AOT) delivered immersive virtual reality (VR) with Focal Vibration (FV) to elicit a kinesthetic illusion coherent the observed task improve motor function. study aimed evaluate feasibility AOT VR integrated FV upper limb muscles on manual dexterity chronic stroke. A single-subject was conducted (A-B design). stroke patient right spastic hemiparesis underwent 12-session VR-AOT training consisting observation and imitation transitive tasks. In addition, applied wrist finger extensor during observation. Upper assessed through Box Blocks test kinematic indexes Nine-Hole Peg Test (NHPT) using an optoelectronic system. three evaluation sessions before treatment (A-phase), (B-phase), follow-up assessment 3 months. Change considered meaningful when two consecutive data points period exceeded baseline standard deviation range. An improvement NHPT score exceeding minimal detectable change 32.8 s found for paretic B-phase. No differences were Block Test. Benefits induced by integrating VR-based current suggested need investigate effects this intervention spasticity.

The use of visual and proprioceptive feedback is a key property motor rehabilitation techniques. This can be used alone, for example, vision in mirror or video therapy, proprioception focal tendon vibration combination, robot-assisted training. Electroencephalographic (EEG) study healthy subjects explored the distinct neurophysiological impact adding (video therapy), (focal tendinous vibration), combined therapy vibration) to imagery task.

Background Non-invasive neurostimulation like muscle tendon vibration (VIB) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) can provide valuable insights on mechanisms underlying sensorimotor dysfunctions. However, their feasibility in the context of painful musculoskeletal disorders shoulder impingement syndrome (SIS) remain uncertain. Methods The present work used a case series design including 15 participants with SIS, as well secondary group-based analysis comparing SIS to healthy counterparts. Proprioceptive processing was tested by VIB-induced kinesthetic illusions abduction, TMS corticospinal excitability upper trapezius. Detailed individual data were collected, any technical challenges issues encountered. Results VIB general well-tolerated elicited perceptible illusion 13 14 controls. presented several related discomfort, fear-related behaviors, problems high motor thresholds, especially SIS. It only possible collect all measures 5 (for both non/less-painful sides), 7 controls dominant side 10 non-dominant side. significant lower speed/amplitude versus non-painful persons (p = 0.035). Conclusion Our study provides preliminary encountered trunk/proximal might help future studies better address those beforehand improve overall impact tools disorders.
