Abstract Environmental factors affect not only paternal condition but may translate into the following generations where sperm-mediated small RNAs (sRNAs) can contribute to transmission of effects. sRNAs play a key role in male germ line genome maintenance and repair, particularly response environmental stress resulting increase transposable element (TE) activity. Here, we investigated how social environment (high competition, low competition) zebrafish Danio rerio affects sperm these are linked gene expression TE activity their offspring.
