The mental health and wellbeing of children young people who have been in care, primarily foster kinship care or residential remains a public priority. Background: Care-experienced young people face an elevated risk of experiencing disadvantages across manifold domains, including health, housing, education, and employment. There is a dearth accessible interventions targeted at this population to help them navigate the ‘cliff-edge’ transition adulthood improve their life chances. The 8-week I-CAN programme was designed address provision gaps support care-experienced people’s learning, personal development, progression. Methods: A mixed methods design used as part pilot evaluation study. participants were n = 11 adults (three males; eight females); aged 19–30 years, M 22 (3.17). data collection comprised statistics, well-validated, self-reported questionnaires, focus group with recipients. Results: integrated quantitative qualitative findings showed tentative for effectiveness programme, majority transitioning confirmed progression route (training, or employment) after completing programme. cautiously suggest that alongside proposed learning outcomes, recipients benefited in terms development (mental wellbeing positive self-image empowerment). Abstract Children and young people with care-experience (e.g. foster, kinship residential care) report poorer mental health wellbeing than the general population. Despite an emerging evidence-base for intervention, it is not clear if current approaches create, exacerbate or mitigate outcome inequities between different types of participants. We conducted a systematic review international interventions targeting health, subjective suicide-related outcomes amongst care-experienced children aged up to 25 years old. The included narrative synthesis intervention inequities, exploring they were more less effective participant groups. Eight interventions, 14 study reports, presented relevant data. Overall, there was no evidence that participation could lead inequitable impacts, being However, some tentative indication individuals lower exposure maltreatment, fewer care placements, increased baseline problems, might be responsive other There limited data availability suicide. Future evaluation should focus on assessing potential sustain how may designed this risk.

The COVID-19 pandemic, and associated lockdowns, saw numerous services move to online remote delivery. This included mental health wellbeing interventions for care-experienced young people. To date there has been limited consideration of how different stakeholders experienced the receipt or delivery provision during this period. We conducted one-to-one small group interviews with: people with experience care (n=3); a person whose biological parents were foster carers (n=1); kinship (n=10); social affiliated professionals (n=9). further engaged relevant stakeholder consultation groups refine confirm study findings. Five central themes generated, that reflected participants' range services, while also serving as recommendations future development optimisation provision: 1) Awareness: is lack general awareness understanding what available support people, specific knowledge regarding support; 2) Choice tailoring: need choice flexibility in identifying best suits their needs, includes decision receive online, blended in-person services; 3) Training: training on relationships ensure safety child protection; 4) Safety, protection risk: have safe private spaces when accessing 5) Access resources: don't always access support, appropriate technological devices prohibitive restrictions. Taken together, findings offer insight into may be developed optimised moving forward they are meeting needs care, maximize likely effectiveness.

Abstract This paper examines the intricate dynamics of transethnic foster placement in Norway, focusing on African minority youth and how ‘culture’ ‘identity’ is conceptualised within this context. Abstract Youth in out‐of‐home care are at high risk for suicide‐related thoughts and behaviors (STB), yet there no known efficacious interventions that reduce STB this population. Fostering Healthy Futures Preteens (FHF‐P) is a 9‐month community‐based mentoring skills training preventive intervention children care. A randomized controlled trial enrolled 156 participants aged 9–11 years who were placed over the prior year. Participants 48.9% female, 54.1% Hispanic, 30.1% Black, 27.1% American Indian. Follow‐up interviews, conducted 7–12 postintervention (85.2% retention rate), asked young adult participants, 18–22, to self‐report lifetime as indexed by non‐suicidal self‐injury, suicidal thoughts, plans, and/or attempts. There was nonsignificant reduction odds of group follow‐up (OR = 0.74; CI, 0.32, 1.69). However, FHF‐P significantly moderated effect baseline STB; control youth reported had 10 times 10.44, 2.28, 47.78), but increase adult‐reported youth. Findings suggest buffers impact pre‐existing on care‐experienced Further research needed identify mechanisms may

For youth and young adults (YYAs) with mental health concerns, digital (dMH) can improve access to care support collaboration providers. Measurement-based using a dMH platform may further optimize YYA outcomes by individualizing treatment approaches. Engaging service providers provides an opportunity better understand how mitigate implementation challenges.
