The vast majority of environmental microbes have not yet been cultured, and most the knowledge on coral-associated (CAMs) has generated from amplicon sequencing metagenomes. However, exploring cultured CAMs is key for a detailed comprehensive characterization roles these in shaping coral health and, ultimately, their biotechnological use as, example, probiotics other natural products. Abstract The application of beneficial microorganisms for corals (BMC) decreases the bleaching susceptibility and mortality rate corals. BMC selection is typically performed via molecular biochemical assays, followed by genomic screening traits. Herein, we present a comprehensive in silico framework to explore set six putative strains. We extracted high-quality DNA from coral samples collected Red Sea PacBio sequencing. identified traits mechanisms associated with each strain as well proposed new mechanisms, such chemotaxis presence phages bioactive secondary metabolites. prophages two studied strains suggests their possible distribution within bacteria. also detected various metabolites, terpenes, ectoines, lanthipeptides, lasso peptides. Abstract Here we report the oil degradation genetic potential of six oil-degrading bacteria (ODB), previously used as a bioremediation consortium, isolated from hydrocoral Millepora alcicornis and seawater. The strains were identified Halomonas sp. (LC_1), Cobetia (LC_6), Pseudoalteromonas shioyasakiensis (LC_2), Halopseudomonas aestusnigri (LC_3), Shewanella algae (LC_4), Brucella intermedia (LC_5). taxonomic identification differed that original paper when whole genome gene markers instead just 16S rRNA gene.
