Effect of Gaza War on Mental Health of Different Egyptian Generations
Abstract
Background :
Exposure
to
unfavorable
environmental
circumstances
including
conflicts
and
wars
increases
people’s
risk
of
experiencing
mental
health
disturbances.
Prevalence
rates
anxiety,
depression
stress
disorders
were
two-
three-fold
higher
between
people
exposed
war
or
those
interested
in
news.
Objectives :
to
explore
prevalence
depression,
anxiety
among
Tanta
university
students
their
parent
representing
different
Egyptian
generations,
identify
associated
factors
effect
on
study/or
work
performance
Methods:
A
cross-sectional
study
was
conducted
collect
data
from
undergraduate
medical
at
University
by
using
random
cluster
sampling
technique.
The
included
100

parent.
A
self-administrated
questionnaire
used
which
sociodemographic
data,
DASS-21
(Depression,
Anxiety
Stress
Scale)
measure
levels
the
impact
studying
/or
performance.
Results :
Females
constituting
79.0%
students.
All
vast
majority
fathers
mothers
reported
that
they
follow
Social
media
networks
most
frequently
source
information
especially
Depression
symptoms
expressed
97.0%
students,
77.0%
65.0%
fathers.
about
two
thirds
51%
45.0%
Multivariant
logistic
regression
analysis
showed
shared
predictor
pointed
severe
extremely
