Background The relationship between dietary antioxidants and fatty liver disease remains a topic of debate. This study aimed to examine the association Composite Dietary Antioxidant Index (CDAI) nonalcoholic (NAFLD)/metabolic-associated (MAFLD). Methods analyzed data from 2003–2018 cycles National Health Nutrition Examination Survey. included 16,321 individuals aged 20–85 years. Food nutrient intake were based on 24-h recall method. Multivariate logistic regression models employed CDAI NAFLD/MAFLD. Results In fully adjusted multivariate model, demonstrated significant negative correlation with NAFLD MAFLD. Mediation analysis showed that inflammatory factors partially mediated NAFLD/MAFLD prevalence. combination high levels effective physical activity was associated greater reduction in prevalence than alone. Conclusion Our highlighted NAFLD/MAFLD, by factors. Additionally, participants characteristics active more strongly correlated reduced Further research clinical cohorts should be conducted comprehensively investigate impact
