Identification of stress factors in returning migrants in Latvia DOI Creative Commons

This study investigates the psychological stress factors faced by return migrants before, during, and after their to Latvia. Employing a Grounded Theory methodology, we conducted in-depth interviews with 21 identified five key themes: pre-return context, identity, perceived social support, wellbeing, that help or hinder re-adjustment. Notably, prior often exceeds post-return stress, highlighting critical yet understudied phase. Key contributors migration include unmet expectations, feelings of alienation, identity struggles, inadequate institutional support. By these factors, this research not only enhances understanding from standpoint but also lays foundational groundwork for development comprehensive theoretical framework encompasses broader spectrum influencing stress. The advocates holistic approach supporting migrants, emphasizing integration resources practical assistance foster successful reintegration into home country.

Abstract There is growing interest in the extent of post‐retirement return among migrants. However, most research focuses on those approaching or soon after retirement, e.g. their 60s. Less known about how return, and indeed non‐return, decision‐making evolves later years, with calls for more migrants old‐old age groups. Moreover, there are indications that women may be less inclined to than male counterparts. Our article seeks advance understanding this area by drawing upon rich qualitative data from Irish migrants, who worked as nurses Britain now entering older age, 70s–80s. Many simply asserted they could not leave adult children grandchildren. using embedding framework, through a life course lens, we argue non‐return reflect complex processes disembedding non‐belonging origin country – which easy articulate.

This study investigates the reintegration of tacit skills among Polish and Lithuanian migrants returning from UK amid Brexit COVID-19 pandemic. Using a CAWI survey 740 returnees, it explores application acquired abroad in their origin countries' labor markets. The research reveals challenges return face utilizing overseas-acquired skills, influenced by local market structures, employers' attitudes, individual experiences. findings contribute to understanding role international migration skill distribution dynamics, focusing on personal economic migrants.
