The
role

ChatGPT
and
higher-order
thinking
skills
(HOTS)
as
predictors
physics
inquiry
among
upper-secondary
students
has
yet

be
widely
explored.
Therefore,
this
research
aimed
examine
students'

motivation
engagement
(ME),
accuracy
trust
(AT))
HOTS
inquiry.
Data
were
collected
from
334
Indonesia
through
online
questionnaires
analyzed
with
SPSS
software
using
correlation
multiple
linear
regression.

that
CQ
had
the
strongest
HOTS,
significant

speed,
concept
linkage,
explanation
quality.
ME
dimension
was

significantly
correlated

The

integrating
inquiry-based
learning
strategies
into
STEM
activities

Abstract
Background
Science,
Technology,
Engineering,
and
Mathematics
(STEM)
education
in
Asian
universities
struggles
to
integrate
Knowledge,
Skills,
Attitudes
(KSA)
due
large
classes
student
reluctance.
While
ChatGPT
offers
solutions,
its
conventional
use
may
hinder
independent
critical
thinking.
Objectives
This
study
introduces
PA‐GPT,
using

a
“virtual
peer”

active
learning

knowledge,
higher‐order
thinking
skills
(HOTS),

KSA

randomised
controlled
trial

first‐year
engineering
students
