Evidence syntheses in educational technology research: What is not published in English is not visible? A tertiary mapping review

Abstract
Evidence
syntheses,
such
as
systematic
reviews,
aim
to
summarise
the
current
state
of
research
in
a
field,
often
using
publication
language
study
criterion
for
inclusion
or
exclusion.
However,
this
has
serious
implications
capturing
evidence
from
wider
range
geographical
areas,
and
potential
linguistic
bias.
In
order
explore
issue,
trilingual
tertiary
mapping
review
446
syntheses
within
field
educational
technology
(EdTech)
published
English,
Spanish
German
was
undertaken,
analysing
frequency
multi‐
monolingual
reasons
choice
by
teams,
composition
teams
syntheses.
Items
were
included
if
they
form
synthesis
with
an
explicit
method
section,
indexed
ERIC,
Scopus,
Web
Science,
Dialnet,
FIS‐Bildung,
Google
Scholar,
education‐related,
between
1983
May
2022.
The
results
showed
that
only
eight
languages
considered
five
used
construct
search
strings,
most
English
without
explaining
why,
multilingual
team
did
not
predict
findings
suggest
need
address
formal
but
integral
aspect
methodological
approach,
influencing
content
scope
research.

In
recent
years,
the
concept
of
gender
mainstreaming
in
project
management
has
become
more
popular
and
demand,
while
educational
technology
emerged
as
a
powerful
tool
for
implementing
training.
This
paper
explores
intersection
technology,
mainstreaming,
management,
with
particular
focus
on
training
approaches
ensuring
effectiveness
gender-sensitivity
local
development
projects.
We
examine
evolution
digital
tools
platforms
training,
e-learning
to
education,
case
studies
interventions,
evaluation
metrics
technology-enabled
The
study
presents
comprehensive
analysis
how
can
enhance
contexts,
particularly
within
international
donor
programs
supporting
Ukrainian
communities'
development.
Our
findings
reveal
that
blended
learning
virtual
environments
show
promise,
significant
challenges
remain
designing
culturally
appropriate,
accessible
technology-enhanced
experiences
effectively
promote
equality
management.
