Purpose : The long-term development of talent in endurance sports is a topic interest. Among various factors, the importance total hemoglobin mass (tHb ) and potential benefits being an altitude-native athlete remain unclear, particularly young categories. This study aimed to investigate impact altitude training content on hematological characteristics by comparing male cyclists age 15–16 17–18 years who were born trained at moderate (ie, greater than or equal 2500 m; MA) low (below 1000 LA). Methods tHb (in grams per kilogram), measured using optimized carbon monoxide rebreathing method during incremental test cycle ergometer; hematocrit percentage, concentration; erythrocyte, blood, plasma volume youth junior MA versus LA. All variables analyzed with 2-way (age [youth cyclist vs cyclist] × level [MA LA]) analysis variance subsequent Tuckey post hoc test. Results Conclusion Some altitude-induced reported group higher values concentration, (grams kilogram) ( P < .05) their LA counterparts. was also observed .001), except for , wherein no significant difference found between groups. In contrast, lower cyclists. Historically, low representation of women participants in exercise science and physiology studies has led to a lack understanding the response therapeutic interventions. We hypothesized that 1) number authors, participants, editorial board members increased over 30 years (1991-2021) 2) larger as editors authors is associated with more participants. Gender (man/woman) (n = 394), 5,735), 2,984,883) 972 original research articles human published 1991 2021 was analyzed from three journals: Journal Applied Physiology, Medicine Science Sports Exercise, British Medicine. Between 2021, average percent per article (21.9 ± 31.7% vs. 36.3 30.3%, respectively, P < 0.001), (16.4 22.4% 30.9 24.0%, (13.3 5.4% 41.5 7.3%, 0.006) increased. In gender proportion large datasets similar (50.2 20.2% women). However, smaller (i.e., <∼3,000 participants) included less (35.6 30.6%). Women (%) were when last author man rather than woman (19.9 29.5% 34.3 42.2%) (31.6 27.7% 51.7 33.4%). there positive correlation between participant (% women) (r 0.42, 0.001). Our data suggest could be resolved equitable numbers by encouraging men study both participants.NEW & NOTEWORTHY Analysis applied revealed but remained lower 2021. Larger assessed whereas women. Equitable may achieved closing gap authorship membership.

Background Given the prevalence of obesity and physical inactivity among Chinese adolescents, assessing role parents in this situation is important. Therefore, main aim study was to evaluate association between parental health literacy levels adolescents' activity China. Methods In cross-sectional study, a sample 4,717 high school students their participated. Parental measured using version Health Literacy Survey 2019-12-item questionnaire (HLS19-Q12), assessed short International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Body mass index (BMI) calculated standardized measurements weight height (kg/m 2 ). Statistical analyses, including independent t- test multiple linear regression (to examine predictors adolescent BMI) were performed SPSS 26.0 software. The significance level set at p < 0.05. Results A total 31.95% adolescents overweight or obese, 48.15% had low activity, which significantly lower girls than boys ( = 0.01, Cohen's d 0.212). Only 21.39% excellent literacy. Higher maternal associated with increased boys, whereas both paternal higher girls, showing stronger 0.001). Furthermore, only factor BMI Conclusion findings highlight importance addressing parents, especially mothers, promoting preventing obesity. promotion programs educational policies should consider family-based approaches effectively address gender-specific needs improve outcomes.

Activity simulation protocols offer useful applications in research and practice; however, the specificity of such to basketball game-play is currently lacking. Consequently, this study aimed develop a game-specific activity protocol representative typical playing durations assess its reliability discriminant validity. The was modified from an original version (i.e., Basketball Exercise Simulation Test) incorporate regular breaks indicative time-outs, free-throws, substitutions. Twelve competitive male female adult players competing fourth or fifth Spanish division underwent repeated trials (min. 4 max. 14 days apart) for analyses. In turn, 13 (fifth division), 9 (fourth recreational completed validity via comparisons between sexes (competitive players) levels (males). A range physical, technical, perceptual-physiological variables were collected during following protocol. Several physical heart rate displayed strongest (intraclass correlation coefficient [ICC] = 0.72–0.96; variation [CV] 1.78–6.75%), with decrement, blood lactate concentration, rating perceived exertion (RPE) having weakest (ICC 0.52–0.75; CV 10.34–30.85%). Regarding analyses sexes, males demonstrated significantly greater outputs several lower RPE compared females ( p < 0.05, moderate -to- large effects). Comparisons revealed had across many variables, alongside higher mean than This presents novel replicating actual game configurations that might be successfully applied both training purposes. Reliability statistics are provided inform end-users on potential measurement error when implementing Discriminant supported suggesting it may hold practical utility benchmarking selecting players. The Association of Ringside Physicians (ARP) is committed to the concept fair competition. It advocates for two equally skilled and matched athletes keep bouts fair, competitive, entertaining, and, most importantly, safe all combatants. Numerous studies have proven that transgender women may a competitive athletic advantage against otherwise cis-gender women. Likewise, men suffer disadvantage men. These differences - both anatomic physiologic persist despite normalization sex hormone levels create disparities in abilities are not compatible with spirit More allowing compete cisgender combat sports, which already involve significant risk serious injury, unnecessarily raises injury due these differences. Hence ARP does support athlete competition sports.
