Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously termed as nonalcoholic fatty (NAFLD) is a hepatic manifestation of obesity and metabolic syndrome. It mainly caused by insulin resistance. With the increased risk visceral in South Asians, prevalence MASLD on rise. The morbidity associated with its complications, including hepatocellular carcinoma projected to increase this Asian population.

Abstract Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and neurodegenerative disorders represent significant health challenges worldwide, with shared pathophysiological mechanisms. Evolving data indicates a bidirectional relationship between NAFLD disorders, common risk factors, such as metabolic syndrome, inflammation, oxidative stress, genetic predisposition, contributing to both conditions. Mechanistic links connecting neurodegeneration include systemic dysregulation of the gut-liver-brain axis, vascular dysfunction. This comprehensive review explores intricate focusing on mechanisms, emerging therapeutic strategies. Furthermore, it presents evidence association from clinical studies, underscoring importance understanding addressing these interconnected A broad complex linking is essential for advancement future strategies that can effectively lessen load devastating By unveiling pathways neurodegeneration, researchers identify novel targets interventions aimed at halting progression preserving patient health.

Background. Since the relationship between initial stage of steatotic liver disease and dementia cognitive function (CF) remains undetermined, there is a need to study such combination. The aim evaluate CF in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated (MASLD). Materials methods. Thirty-nine outpatients chronic forms coronary heart were examined: 26 made up main group concomitant MASLD 13 included control an intact liver. In all them, was evaluated using Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Results. according MMSE lower than among those (25.27 vs 28.22; p < 0.01). Mild disorders diagnosed 7.69 %, moderate — 65.38 severe 26.93 % MASLD. total, frequency deterioration (MMSE ≤ 27) 33.33 while it significantly higher (92.31 %) (p 0.05). Conclusions. can be important criterion state health its changes, determines course disease, allows assessing activity endogenous intoxication syndrome cardiovascular system. Impairment functions occurs already at steatosis, which should taken into account clinic.
